Visit the Curio Shop and Hunt for Gems in Webkinz Next!

The Curio Shop has finally opened in Webkinz Next! Visit the Curio Shop by heading to Kinzville and clicking on the building, or click on the map icon directly.

What can you do in the Curio Shop? Look for deals on W Shop items and check for rare items by clicking on the Cash Register. You’ll also find the Wish Boutique — a place to spend your Wish Tokens on exclusive items and on past prize items you might have missed!

Of course, it wouldn’t be the Curio Shop if it didn’t have the Gem Mines! You can reach the mines by clicking on the Gem Hunt sign here, or enter it from Kinzville, or click on its map icon.

Run around the mine area with your pet and looking for glowing rocks! Click on them to see what you get — you might get a gem, or you might get slag! You get three chances a day to click on rocks — if you find more than one gem, you will get to pick the one you want to keep! Any slag you find goes directly to your dock (hold on to that for later!). When you’re finished mining, Amanda will offer to buy whatever gem you’ve selected, or you can keep it for your collection. Trade in your completed collection for the Crown of Wonder!

There’s a new Curio Shop challenge to help you get acquainted with all of the new features — look for it in your list of challenges on the left.

So update your apps and head to Kinzville to check out the Curio Shop and the Gem Mining activity — let us know what gems you find!

I love the mines. They are really beautiful. Great job! But today I can’t dig for gems. It says I should come back tomorrow. And the gem I found yesterday is not in my collection…

    • Rachelgirl says:

I have the very samep roblem, I was able to dig on Friday, but not yesterday, and today (Sunday), I just logged on and tried and again, it said I am done and should come back tomorrow. I hope we are not the only ones having this problem, so they will fix it!? Otherwise we can’t complete the challenge.

frozenanna2 I was wondering how you are doing on the Webkinz Next, it must be fun. I took a look at the gem mines here and I wish the old version could let you choose if you got 2 gems out of three tries and pick one out that you wanted to add to your gem collection.

Ooh I am excited! Thanks Ganz! Is Artie not in it? :/

This looks like so much fun!

Well don’t use the chart in the Curio Shop to figure out the rarest gems. I took a screen shot on my iPad and thought the Opal one would be uncommon, since it is just above the rose one on the chart…no the opal is common. Still fun to run around and collect, just so hard to choose at the end.

I had a great time running around the mine and collected 3 gems. I was so sad when I had to choose just one before I could leave. How are we supposed to know which one is the rarest in each color group? I may have left the rare one behind. I got an enchanted emerald, a peridot pear and the rocky rose. I chose to keep the rose one. You can’t really read the chart in the shop. Will you put the names in the empty spaces of the jewel box of each color section? This is really fun and it adds another daily thing to do on Next. Thanks for designing a fun new way to go gem mining.

Good for you! I got slag. hahaha I love this stuff!

I’ve mined multiple gems twice so far. Really hard to decide what to take and what to leave so I started making my own version of the chart. So far, this is what I’ve figured out about the gems: RED–gumdrop garnet and crimson karat (common), fire fossil (uncommon), rocky rose (unknown). YELLOW– something topaz (unknown). GREEN–serpentine spiral (common), enchanted emerald and peridot pear (unknown). BLUE–azure azores (common), brilliant butterfly and indigo ingot (uncommon), cerulean star (unknown). WHITE–opal egg (common).

      • Beckinz8 says:

Hi @finnek. I would like to add to your research and maybe we can keep this going. Red fire fossil (uncommon), Yellow phoenix feather (uncommon), Green peridot pear (common), Blue brilliant butterfly (uncommon), White fang finite (common). I will try to post more as I discover more. Hopefully the rest of the Next community will jump in!

        • Beckinz8 says:

New one: White hopeful diamond (rare)

        • Beckinz8 says:

Yellow: honed honey (uncommon), amore heliodor (common), floral facets (common); Green: jade jewel (uncommon), serpentine spiral (common); Blue: blue moon (common), azure azores (common).

        • finnek says:

Thanks for your additions @Beckinz8! I’m only missing 4 names, although I have a couple of names without levels.

          • finnek says:

WHITE (solved!): RARE–Hopeful Diamond, UNCOMMON–Quizzical Quartz & Paw Pearls, COMMON–Opal Egg, Fang Finite, & Bone Beryl.

          • finnek says:

BLUE (Missing one name & not sure if Cerulean Star is rare or common): UNCOMMON–Brilliant Butterfly & Indigo Ingot, COMMON–Blue Moon & Azure Azores.

          • finnek says:

GREEN (Missing one name & not sure if Enchanted Emerald is rare or common): UNCOMMON–Dragon Scale & Jade Jewel, COMMON–Serpentine Spiral & Peridot Pear.

          • finnek says:

YELLOW (Missing the name of the Rare one): UNCOMMON–Honed Honey & Phoenix Feather, COMMON–Amore Helidor, Tumbled Topaz, & Floral Facets.

          • finnek says:

RED (Missing one name & not sure if Rocky Rose is uncommon or common): RARE–Royal Ruby, UNCOMMON–Fire Fossil, COMMON–Crimson Carat & Gumdrop Garnet.

          • Beckinz8 says:

Hi finnek! It’s been a while, but I have a few more updates. BLUE: Sea Sapphire (rare); Brilliant Butterfly, Indigo Ingot (uncommon); Cerulean Star, Blue Moon, Azure Azores (common). The GREEN common that you are missing is the Lucid Luminite. The RED common that you are missing is the Candy Carnelian. I only have a full set of the Blue, so I will just have to keep working on it. Do you know if the gem hunt works the same as on Classic, where you can only find the rare of each color in the coordinating color mine, or in this case, the coordinating color sparkling crystals? Please let me know. If so, I will keep clicking on all of the red ones because I am missing the most in that category.

          • finnek says:

WooHoo! It looks like we now have them all identified! Thanks for your help! Here are the last ones: The rare YELLOW is Shining Sunstone. Rocky rose (RED) is uncommon. As far as I can tell, the Rare ones do work like Classic–they have to be in the matching color. I’m missing the most in blue, but I have a hard time finding rocks with blue sparkles. I’m pretty close to getting the Crown, but now that there are less that I need, it’s getting harder.

Is the Curio Shop Challenge a limited time challenge/event or do we have all the time in the world to finish it? Because I have 9 accounts that I would rather space out completing the earn 150 KC instead of doing it all today.

    • Sally Webkinz says:

There is no time limit :)

    • leaveitnow41s says:

Omg you have 9 accounts!? good lord how do you keep up? I have one classic and one next. i have 567 pets on classic and a whole bunch of babies on next, Its hard to keep up with that.

      • 12hope34 says:

You have 567 pets on classic!? My goodness that’s amazing! It must have taken forever to design all of your rooms and such!

      • TroyInches says:

Oh, I just do the basics, it usually takes me about 2-3.5 hours each day to do all 9 on classic and 9 on next, and I don’t have quite as many pets as you do. One this that helps save time is doing Next on my phone while a page loads on Classic on my computer, and vise versa. I know all I really said was “I don’t” but I hope I was able to answer your question with a helpful and insightful response.
