Salley’s First Presidential Address
Hello Kinzville Academy! First, I want to thank each and every one of you for your votes. Being your school president is a great honor and I will definitely do my very best to represent each and every one of you. If you ever have a question or a concern, come and see me in the student government lounge. I’m happy to do whatever it takes to make this school awesome! Now, you’re probably wondering who the vice president will be. Well, it’s none other than my very best friend  (and fellow presidential candidate) Stoogles! I know Stoogles will be a tremendous asset to the student government, and that we’ll work well together. He brings a lot of great ideas to the table, and he’s not afraid to ask tough questions. Finally, you may be wondering who will be filling the role of treasurer. After being told by Ms. Cowoline that Purr-Cilla has to be involved in the student government somehow, we decided that treasurer would be the right role for her. I’m trying to stay positive about this, but we’ll see how it goes. I mean, Purr-Cilla might be good at this. You never know. Sigh. Anyway, thank … Read more
Ms. Cowoline Weighs in on the Election
Well, it’s Ms. Cowoline here again. I just had a long – and rather exhausting – discussion with Purr-cilla regarding her reaction to the results of the School President election. While I realize that it must be difficult for Purr-cilla to accept her loss, I pointed out that she did do very well in the results. 2391 votes is nothing to sneeze at, you know. But then, although she still disputed the accuracy of the vote, Purr-cilla demanded to know why, when she had such a strong showing, she would not be allowed to take part and help make decisions about how the School Government runs. And you know, I thought she had an excellent point. So then I explained to Salley that, as Purr-cilla represented a sizeable portion of the vote, perhaps it would be wise for Salley to include Purr-cilla in her cabinet to make sure that ALL the students’ voices are heard. And after that I had a long – and equally exhausting – discussion with Salley. *SIGH* And so Salley will be making a place for Purr-cilla in her council. I’m sure the two of them, with the help of Stoogles, will make an excellent … Read more
I Demand a Recount!
Have you ever had a feeling that you’ve been cheated out of something you really deserve? That’s how I, Purr-Cilla, feel today. I have been cheated out of my chance to lead the Kinzville Academy to greatness. That’s right, greatness. I had plans – BIG plans – and they were all for nothing. Because that ridiculous Salley Cat ROBBED me of my chance to be president. And that’s why I’m demanding a recount. I’m going to see Ms. Cowoline this morning to discuss my many, many concerns. I know she’ll see things my way when I’m done explaining how the election was rigged. Know how I know it was rigged? Because I didn’t even come in second place! I came in third! And there is NO way that would happen without someone switching up ballots or something. After all, why would anyone vote for that icky Stoogles Googles over me? ME! Have you met me? I’m awesome! Anyway, I’ve got to go see Ms. Cowoline. Before the end of today, Purr-Cilla will be part of the Kinzville Academy’s school government, or I’ll eat my hat!
Results of the School Election
Hello, children. Ms. Cowoline here to announce the results of the School President Vote. Before I announce the winner, I would just like to say how proud I am of all the candidates. I know that they all worked very hard at their campaigns and they all had intriguing (although not always workable) ideas about how to improve the culture of Kinzville Academy. I extend my thanks to all of the candidates for taking an interest in school government. They are an inspiration to us all. Having said that, we all realize that there can only be one winner. We had an excellent turnout for the vote – 9784 children took part. And the results are… With 2391 votes, an excellent showing, is Purr-cilla. With 3405 votes, another strong contender, is Stoogles. And our winner, with an impressive 3988 votes is… Salley Cat! Let’s hear it for our new School President, Salley! Thank you to every single one of you who voted. It’s so important to make your voice heard to affect change in your community. I look forward to working with Salley to incorporate some of her ideas into the running of Kinzville Academy. Now you may be … Read more

Challenge 33: Play “Guess the Fruit”
Here’s a fun game you can play with your friends and the best part is cleaning up when you’re done – you get to eat the game pieces! Fill a basket with different types of fruit and cover it up with a cloth so the players can’t see inside. The more similar the fruits, the harder the game – it’s a lot harder to tell the difference between a grapefruit and an orange than between a pineapple and a grape! Put a blindfold on one of your friends. Take a piece of fruit from the basket, hand it to them and see if they can guess the fruit. If they guess correctly, they get to keep going. Guess wrong and it’s someone else’s turn. This is a neat way to introduce new fruits into your diet!
Challenge 32: Plan a Healthy Picnic
Here’s a great way to incorporate healthy foods into your diet and and get exercise and fresh air while you’re at it! Why not plan a picnic? Start with pretty homemade invitations. Decorate them with flowers and butterflies in keeping with your outdoor theme. And don’t forget to include a map to the picnic site! For your menu, prepare healthy choices like fresh fruit, salad, raw vegetables and sandwiches on whole wheat bread. Bring big bottles of water and cups so you can share them. After a relaxing lunch, why not explore the area with a brisk walk? Or include everyone in a fun game of tag! It’s the perfect way to encourage healthy eating and exercise, while enjoying some downtime with family and friends!
More fun Pelican facts!
Hey, it’s me again. You know what else is cool about Pelicans? Pelicans can be found in lots of different parts of the world but always by water. We are great swimmers – we have webbed toes like a duck. And like most birds we have a preen gland which secretes oil. We rub our heads on our preen gland to release the oil and then we use our head and beak to spread the oil across our bodies. This makes our feathers waterproof. Have you ever heard the saying ‘Like water off a duck’s back’? Well, personally, I think it should be ‘Like water off a PELICAN’s back.’
