Craft: Dough Plaque

Make a fancy (or plain) wall plaque with this easy dough recipe!

What you need:

3 cups of all-purpose flour

1 cup of table salt

1 cup of water

Mixing bowl

Wooden spoon

Surface for kneading

Plastic wrap

What you do:

1.       Put all the ingredients into the bowl and mix until they form dough.

2.       Knead the dough for about five minutes, until it’s smooth and pliable.

3.       Roll out your dough until it’s about an inch thick. You can use a cookie cutter or butter knife to cut it into a shape. This is your plaque’s background.

4.       Add other dough details; shapes, dots, whatever you like. You can attach items with a little bit of water.

5.       With an adult’s help, set the oven at 250 degrees F and bake the plaque until it’s totally hard (and sounds a bit hollow when you tap it with a spoon).

6.       Let your plaque cool. You can paint it, if you like. You can seal it with some glaze. Let the whole thing dry.

After your plaque is done, you can glue a piece of ribbon to the back and hang it up!
