Friendship Focus: Listening

By Roberta Rabbit

When Alex was writing his essay the other day, he asked me what I considered to be the most important trait in a friend.  I guess to me, the best thing a friend can do is be a good listener.

I love my parents more than anything, but my dad works late a lot and sometimes I miss him. And sometimes when he’s at home, he still treats me like a baby. I don’t like to say anything to my mom and dad because I know how hard they work and I don’t want to make them feel bad.

That’s when it’s wonderful to have a friend like Cowabelle. I know that when I’m missing my dad, I have someone who will let me share my feelings. Sometimes Cowabelle doesn’t even have to say anything – it just feels good to get stuff off my chest. But other times, she knows just the right thing to say to make me feel better.

I am so lucky to have a friend like Cowabelle. I hope she will always be there to listen to me when I need someone to talk to.

Awwwwww, how sweet! I know that my friends are there for me when I need someone to talk to. Especially when I really need to get something off my chest, they are always there for me. When I try to talk to my parents, they just try to reverse it and make it better. That’s not what I want, I just need to talk to someone, you know. THANK YOU MY FRIENDS!
