The Missing Ingredient…

Congratulations to strawberrylynx, writersangst, Minion, mountainhouse01,  and sallymaltese! They’ve each been emailed a Secret Code for an eStore exclusive Jolly Jubilee Otter. We wanted to know what key ingredient the Jolly Jubilee Otter forgot when he made his Thanksgiving feast — read the winning entries below!

Jolly Jubilee Otter was setting his table very carefully. Everything had to be perfect for tonight’s Thanksgiving- he’d volunteered to host it this year for the Otter family. The salad had his special veggie dressing, the mashed potatoes had the perfect amount of seasoning (which he’d found in the magical forest under the noses of some pixies), and home-made rolls made his mouth water. His popcorn snowball treats were well known, and brought to every Otter occasion. He panicked. He had forgotten about them! He thought he remembered getting the popcorn kernels and turning on the stove. What about the blue frosting? He had little time- his family would arrive at his home soon. He scrambled to throw kernels into a pot on the stove. Outside, he collected bright blue swamp flowers to squeeze into blue dye. Quick frosting was whipped up and colored with the flower dye, and he hurriedly put together the treat. He licked his claws and set down the plate of goodies. He was saved.  - strawberrylynx

J.J. was known as the best chef in Kinzville, second only to Daisy Doe. He was famous for his mashed potatoes, which had won him many prizes. It was now Thanksgiving Day and he was going to bring a batch to his family’s dinner. The only problem was that he forgot to buy the secret ingredient that made his mashed potatoes so special: Sour cream and chive chip dip! It was a crazy ingredient, but it gave the mashed potatoes an out-of-this-world amount of flavor. JJ didn’t know what he’d do without it! He frantically searched through his cabinets and pantries. He definitely didn’t have any of that dip, so now he’d have to find a replacement otherwise he’d let his family down. He grabbed a little cheddar cheese, sprinkled in a pinch of oregano, mixed in a few cups of cottage cheese, and topped it off with crumbled bacon. He took it to his family’s Thanksgiving dinner with haste. He told his family that he was trying a new recipe. Everybody took a helping and everybody loved it! - writersangst

The Jolly Jubilee Otter was getting ready for his Thanksgiving dinner, when suddenly he realized he had forgotten to get pumpkins for the pumpkin pie! He quickly ran to the store to buy some, but they were all sold out! The Jubilee Otter didn’t know what to do, but he remembered he had a pack of pumpkin seeds at home. He knew it would be a long shot to try to grow them by dinnertime, but what other choice did he have? Besides, the label did say “grows magically fast!” So the Jolly Jubilee Otter planted the seeds, gave it lots of water, and hoped for a miracle. He was just getting the turkey out of the oven when he looked out the window and gasped. The pumpkins had grown into the size of carriages! The Jubilee Otter was so surprised that he ran out of the house and just stared at the giant pumpkins for a good 20 minutes. Then he remembered he had guests coming over soon, so he quickly sliced open one of the pumpkins to make the pie. He decided to keep the others for a contest and won! - Minion

The Jolly Jubilee otter was busy in his kitchen making his secret Pumpkin Pie recipe for his upcoming Thanksgiving party. “My friends are going to love my pie!” He thought. He was just putting the final touches on his pie when he realized that he forgot his secret ingredient! Cinnamon! “What will I do?” He cried. “All of the stores are closed! How will I get my special cinnamon now?” Then he got a great idea! “I’ll just use the time machine that my friend Arte let me borrow! Then I can go back to 1621 and borrow some cinnamon from the Webkinz Pilgrims!” So he got into the time machine and selected 1621! Lights flashed and a siren sounded. The time machine started spinning and then blasted off through time! When everything stopped, he stepped out of the time machine and looked around amazed! Everywhere Pilgrim Webkinz were busy preparing a feast! He walked up to a Pilgrim Cow and asked to borrow some Cinnamon. “Of course!” They cheered! That year he made the best Pumpkin Pie ever! - mountainhouse01

Jolly Jubilee Otter is hosting his first Thanksgiving party ever. 10 minutes before the guests arrive he has the food on the table: the turkey, glazed and steaming, the cranberry salad next to the rolls, the sweet potato casserole and green beans on opposite ends of the long dining table. “What am I missing?” Jolly Jubilee Otter mutters. “Oh, the pumpkin pie!” He runs back to the kitchen, grabs the pre-made pie crust, and rummages around for the pumpkin filling. “I can’t find the pumpkin filling! You can’t make pumpkin pie without pumpkin!” he exclaims. Seeing the leftover sweet potatoes, he has an idea. “Sweet potatoes are orange and sweet. So they’re basically pumpkin…. right?” He peels the sweet potatoes, mashes them, and throws them in the pie crust with a handful of sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Just as he puts the pie in the oven the first guest arrives. When it’s time for dessert the pie is brought out and the guests dig in. The pie is so sweet that everyone loves it.  - sallymaltese

Congratulations strawberrylynx, writersangst, Minion, mountainhouse01, and sallymaltese. I was sure hoping that I would have won the Jolly Jubilee Otter he is so cute! Oh Well, maybe next time! This was my entry……………….. Jaxson the Jolly Jubilee Otter, is throwing a Thanksgiving party tomorrow. When Jaxson woke up , he cleaned the house, and began preparing all of the food before the guests arrived. The dining table was set. It looked so lovely. There was a beautiful cornucopia basket displayed as the table’s centerpiece. The doorbell started ringing, as all of his guests were starting to arrive. Everyone was commenting on how nice the house looked, and how good the dinner was smelling. Jaxson decided it was time to serve the meal, the meal that he worked so hard on preparing. He was bringing the food to the table, when suddenly, he realized that his Thanksgiving dinner was missing the key ingredient. There was no turkey! Jaxson forgot to cook the turkey! What will he do now? He quickly decided that he was not going to allow a missing turkey to ruin his meal. Jaxson felt so thankful to be with his friends on Thanksgiving, and to share and consume the delicious food that he did prepare.

Once again so much fun reading these… The magic pumpkin seeds were a funny surprise and the Arte sure came in handy with his time machine. The popcorn story reminds of the book Gathering Blue and I loved the idea of making popcorn with blue frosting, a nice touch for dessert. Yum everyone.
