Holiday Recipe: Oatmeal Cookies

Hi there! It’s Polly here! I know, I know. You probably think I’m fed up of all the cookie baking after all those cookies I made for the Secret Santakinz gift exchange.

But it’s Christmas Eve and every year my sister Amanda and I bake oatmeal cookies to leave by the fireplace for Santakinz. Here’s our recipe:

What You Need:

  • ½  cup butter, softened
  • ½  cup white sugar
  • ½  cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½  teaspoon baking soda
  • ½  teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 ½  cups quick cooking oats
  • Adult Assistant
  • Cookie sheets

What You Do:

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Beat the egg and then the vanilla.
  2. Slowly and carefully, add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix in oats.
  3. Have your adult assistant preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.
  4. Spoon the dough onto the cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cool. Another recipe I love making is Rice Krispy Treats. (All you need is butter and marshmallows, melted, and Rice Crispy cereal) I think I might make this tonight for Santa. :D -CS◙◙◙
