A Few of our Favorite Things

Ella_McWoof_Laptop

By Ella McWoof Happy holidays, readers! Christmas is almost here and so today I am interviewing the residents of Kinzville to find out their favorite things about the holidays. Let’s hear what they had to say. Ella McWoof: Here’s our good friend, Arte Fact. Arte, what is your favorite thing about Christmas. Arte: Well, Ella, I just love being able to help my customers find that perfect gift for someone special on their list when they come into the Curio Shop. I also love spending time with my nephew, Sparky. He’s a great kid who always works hard and does his best. I know sometimes he gets a little off track, but I know he can pull it together by Christmas. EM: Thanks, Arte! Now here’s Roberta Rabbit. Roberta, can you tell us your favorite thing about Christmas? Roberta: Huh? Oh, sorry – I’m kind of exhausted right now. Christmas? Yeah, I really like making crafts at Christmas. At least, I always used to. For some reason right about now I’m not really feeling it, but generally, yeah, I like making crafts at Christmas. EM: Okay. Interesting. Ms Cowoline, your favorite … Read more

Molly’s Family Christmas: Cousin Trouble

MollyDrawing

I can’t believe this! I was out gift shopping at the W Shop with Cowabelle and when I got home I went up to my room to hide the present I got for Millie. As I was walking up the stairs I was sure that I could hear some giggling from somewhere nearby, but there is so much chaos in this crazy house right now I didn’t think anything of it. Then I walked into my room and I couldn’t believe what I saw. I looked up and at the same moment saw another awful caricature of me scribbled all over my wall, I heard peals of laughter coming from the doorway. I spun around and there were Bobby and Robby standing there, doubled over laughing, with a couple of markers in their hands. And the worst part? Millie was peeking around the doorjamb, trying not to giggle. How can this be happening to me? I thought Christmas was supposed to be a happy time!

Roberta’s Homemade Holidays: Snowglobe Craft

SnowGlobe

Unfortunately I don’t have any glass blowing equipment in my craft room, but I do have this idea for a cute craft that creates the look of a snow globe using an acetate sheet for the glass. What you need: -          Light blue construction paper -          Brown construction paper -          White construction paper -          Green construction paper -          Red construction paper -          Black construction paper -          Crayons -          Clear acetate sheet -          Small plate -          Scissors -          Glue stick (that dries clear) What you do: Use your small plate to trace one circle onto the light blue paper and one circle onto the clear acetate sheet. Cut out both circles. Use your construction paper, crayons and glue to create a winter scene on your blue circle (I made a simple snowman.) Cut out small white pieces of paper and glue them all around your scene. From your brown paper cut out a trapezoid, a rectangle that is wider on one side. Glue the trapezoid to the bottom of your blue circle. Spread your clear acetate circle with a thin circle of glue and stick it over top of your blue circle, making sure the edges line up.   … Read more

A Minor Emergency…

Alex'sLeg

Alex here with some bad news: I’m stuck on the couch for the next three days. I was helping my mom shovel the driveway this morning, when I slipped on some ice. I tried to get up, but my ankle hurt waaaay too much. Mom was so worried. She took me right over to Dr. Quack’s clinic (he even brought out a wheelchair to help me get inside). He took an x-ray of my ankle, and told me that (thankfully) it’s not broken. It’s pretty badly sprained, though. Dr. Quack wrapped it in a bandage and gave me some crutches to help me get around. He said I should be feeling much better in about a week. Can you believe my bad luck?  Mom says that I can stay home from school until the holidays start, but I LOVE school – so I think I’ll try to keep going. The only good thing is that while I’ve been sitting here, I’ve come up with an amazing gift for Molly. What is it? You’ll have to wait and see!

Nibbles’ Trip

Nibbles

Know how I was really mad at Plumpy for taking me to see my relatives at Christmas instead of just staying here like we always do? We-ell…it seems that maybe I over-reacted, just a tad. Plumpy told me about all the awesome stuff she’s got planned. We’re going to see my grandparents, my cousins – even my aunts and uncles. Wiggles is going to come with us, so that’ll be amazing. And Sir Rhineholt, Plumpy’s friend, will be meeting us down there. So…overall, maybe it’s not so bad. I really love visiting my gran and gramps, and my cousins are so much fun. Can you believe it? I might actually be getting excited about this trip! What’s your favorite thing about visiting your relatives?

A Message from the Awesome Reindeer!

Reindeer122

Hey, it’s the Reindeer again. Remember me – the Pet of the Month for December? I was going to tell you about some of the cool stuff that I used to make my awesome video about my favorite season, winter. When we were planning the video, we hit the eStore to buy props because I know they always have really epic items. The video is all about me daydreaming about my favorite winter activities while I’m sitting in class, so when I saw the cool Winter Vacation Window, I thought we could use that as the window in the classroom to capture the magical effect of watching the snow fall (is there anything better?) I also HAD to get the Webkinz Hockey Jersey. Hockey is my favorite sport and as soon as I saw it I realized that a hockey scene would be perfect in the video. The Goofy Snowball Hill is, like, the most epic thing I’ve ever seen – how cool is that? I love playing in the snow in the winter, so just imagine how much fun I will have with an awesome snow hill like that! You might have … Read more

Molly’s Family Fun Time

The day has come. My family is here. All twenty-three of them. My aunt and her new baby are coming in a few days (they’re smart. If it was me, I’d show up on Christmas Eve and leave on Boxing Day).  Then it will be twenty-five. Twenty-five relatives. In my house. Non-stop. As I suspected, Robby and Bobby (my twin cousins who are total pains) arrived with plans to make my life miserable. They hadn’t been there for more than ten minutes when they started sticking paper moustaches all over every single picture of me in the house. My little cousin threw up all over my mom’s rug. My aunt said he was still a bit carsick. My grandpa ate the chocolate bar I’d been saving. My grandma told me I’m slouching. My great-aunt pinched my cheek so hard it still hurts. Millie seems to be holding up better than I am. A lot of our relatives brought her little gifts. Did they bring me anything? No, because I’m the oldest. I have to be mature and set the example for everyone else. Sometimes I think it would be amazing to be … Read more

A Present for Uncle Arte

Hey, it’s Sparky. I got some good news and some bad news today, sorta. The good news is, I finally figured out what I am going to get my Uncle Arte for Christmas. Which is a huge relief, because I’ve really been struggling with it. I mean, what do you get a guy who has traveled the world, had exciting adventures and runs his own shop that sells some of the coolest stuff in Kinzville? Booger suggested a video game, but that’s not really Uncle Arte’s speed. And then Roberta said maybe I should make something, which wasn’t a bad idea, but I wasn’t really sure what I could make that he would want. I guess he must have noticed that I was feeling a bit stressed because he sat me down when I came into the Curio Shop the other day and asked what was bothering me. I know you shouldn’t talk about what gift you’re going to give someone, but I’ve never been able to lie to Uncle Arte so I just came out and told him the truth, that I really wanted to give him the perfect present but I didn’t know what that would be. … Read more

Roberta’s Handmade Holidays: Keychain

KeyChain

My dad is always losing his keys, so I figured I’d make him a keychain. His favorite colors are red, black and gray (or silver). So this is what I came up with!   What You need: Keychain circle, yarn or string, needle big enough for yarn or string, beads in your recipient’s favorite color, scissors   What you do: Tie a knot at one end of the string. String on several beads. Make an interesting pattern! Tie the other end of the string to the keychain. Make sure it’s securely attached! Snip off any extra string. I made two key chains – one for my dad’s car keys, and one for his house keys!

Golden Gobbler Contest Winners

Congratulations to Riley, Michaela, Kelly, Adriana, and Kristin! They’ve each been sent a Secret Code for an eStore exclusive Golden Gobbler Turkey. We wanted to know how the Golden Gobbler celebrated Thanksgiving this year. Read the winning entries below! On Thanksgiving morning, an excited Gobbles woke up, ready to celebrate the big day the way any Golden Turkey would. First, Gobbles went to the W Shop to buy some salad, potatoes, and of course his favorite cranberry gobbler. He whipped up some sloppy Joes and delectable vegetable soup for when his friends Marcy the groundhog and Fluffles the Blufadoodle came over for dinner. After all, who better to hang out with on Thanksgiving than a Golden Turkey? Soon, Gobbles was setting the table with his nicest Autumn china. They were decorated with delicate golden filigree and orange leaves carved into the middle of the crisp, cream colored plates. Fancy crystal cups were filled with yummy apple cider and silverware was laid out beside each plate. Then Gobbles lit a fire in his fireplace to warm the little dining room. Before he knew it, Marcy and Fluffles were there for dinner! And that’s how every Golden Turkey celebrates Thanksgiving; with friends. … Read more
