Postcard from Laurabeard – an amazing discovery
Dear Nibbles, We found it! We found the island! And you would never believe it! There are loads and loads of these trees with the chocolate growing on them. We searched along the beach until we found a path leading into the trees. As we followed the path we could see large footprints in the dirt. We seemed to stay on the path forever, when suddenly the trees parted and we came to a small building in the middle of a clearing. On one side of the building was a conveyor belt carrying bucketloads of the big brown pods up the side of the building and dropping them into a chute on the roof. We walked around the building to find another conveyor belt coming out of a hatch on the wall. And you will never believe what was coming out! There, on the conveyor belt, were basket after basket filled with colorful eggs! Nibbles, I think we found the island where Easter eggs come from!!! We didn’t see any signs of anyone around, but at one point a shadow fell across me and I was sure I saw the shadow of two big ears! But when I turned around … Read more
Nibbles Hippo: Reporter
It’s me, Nibbles Hippo, here to recap all the awesome stuff that’s been happening so far today. The day got off to an exciting start with an Easter egg hunt at Fluffington’s mansion. Every year, the entire town goes to find the eggs. Grownups, kids – everyone! And every year, one egg made of solid gold is hidden among the rest. This year, Salley found it! She was so excited. Purr-Cilla just glared at her and stuck out her tongue. Jealous much? Millie is now 100% sure that Roberta actually IS the Easter Bunny. She saw Roberta putting a basket of goodies on her porch and, well, that pretty much sealed the deal! Roberta tried to explain that she just made the basket for Millie, as a gift, but Millie would hear nothing of it. Roberta eventually gave up trying to explain, and just let Millie hug her and thank her profusely. Speaking of Millie, everyone is looking forward to seeing her in the parade – which starts in an hour, by the way! I’ve got to get going and get a good place up front, so I can see all the action! Happy Easter!
Cowabelle’s Apology
Dear Diary, Well, my mom heard my stomping around earlier today. She came up to my room and asked what was wrong. I told her about my fight with Millie and guess what she said? She said that I, Cowabelle Cowoline, had to apologize to Millie Pig! She said that ultimately it’s Millie’s decision to choose her parade attire. Really? She’s only a kid! She doesn’t know the first thing about fashion! But Mom said that my fashion choices weren’t always the best when I was little, and that I should try to be more patient. She also said that if I really wanted to be in the parade, I would have to get back into Millie’s good graces. Ugh. So guess where I’m going? Millie’s house. Mom suggested that I might even consider bringing a peace offering of some kind. Whatever that means. Hopefully Millie is in a better mood by the time I get to her place. - Cowabelle
Out of the Parade?
Dear Diary, Remember how Ms. Birdy and Dr. Quack said I could be Millie’s Lady-in-Waiting? And remember how my mom pointed out all kinds of good things about it? Well, she forgot to point out one very bad thing: the fact that I have to deal with Millie, world’s most demanding little queen! I went over to Millie and Molly’s place today and to help Millie pick out her dress. I thought she should wear her bright pink dress –it’s so springy and fancy! But she wanted to wear this awful light-blue number with flowers all over it. I told Millie that she looked more like a peasant than a queen in that dress, but she said that it was her decision. I tried to get Molly to back me up and tell Millie that I was right about the pink dress, but Molly wouldn’t get involved. Can you believe it? My own friend, not even interested in helping me out! Millie told me that if I didn’t like her choice, maybe I shouldn’t be her lady-in-waiting (actually, she called me her ‘gravy-in-waiting’, but I corrected her). I told her that if she thought she could get ready … Read more
Millie’s Easter Basket
Millie asked the Easter Bunny (AKA: me, or my uncle) for a special basket for her goodies. I decided to get super-crafty and make her a gorgeous decoupage basket. Check it out! What you need: Shoe box, pipe cleaner, construction paper eggs, scissors, craft glue, colored duct tape What you do: Put a layer of glue on one side of your shoe box. Glue on your construction paper eggs. Repeat with the other three sides of the box. Attach your pipe cleaner as a handle. You can punch a hole through either side of the box, and twist your handle in place. Add a border of colored duct tape at the top and bottom of your box. Fill the box full of goodies!
Ms. Birdy and Dr. Quack give Cowabelle a very important job
Hey. It’s Cowabelle. This thing with Millie being named Queen of the Easter Parade is still bugging me but I guess it gets a little better. Today my mom came in and said that she had been talking to Ms. Birdy and Dr. Quack about it and they all realized that because Millie was so young, she was going to need someone to help her out when the time comes for her to ride the parade float. So they decided to offer me the position of ‘Lady-in- Waiting’ to the Queen. It will be my responsibility to look after Millie while she rides the float. It’s not exactly the star of the show, but I do get to ride on the float with Millie and I will have to dress up in a pretty Easter outfit. My mom says I should consider myself the ‘second-star of the show’. I guess that’s better than nothing, right?
Cowabelle Cowoline: Not Pleased!
Dear Diary, I am SO furious! The more I think about the auditions yesterday, the angrier I get. Millie Pig (MILLIE PIG!) got chosen as the Queen of the Easter Parade. Why? I have no idea! Millie isn’t talented or beautiful or anything! She’s just a little pig. OK, so she’s cute. But queens are supposed to be regal – not CUTE! Maybe she could be a princess or something. Ugh. I’m going to go and talk to Ms. Birdy and Dr. Quack and see if I can show them the error of their ways. They can always make Millie a princess and make me a queen. THAT would make sense. - Cowabelle
Roberta’s Bunny Cupcakes
Millie specifically wanted “Bunny Cupcakes.” No problem! Here’s how you make them: What you need: Vanilla cupcakes, vanilla icing, small pink jellybeans, small chocolate chips, large marshmallows, pink gummy candy, rolling pin, icing sugar What you do: Frost your cupcake with the white frosting. Near one edge of the cupcake, put the pink jellybean. Above it, place the two chocolate chips, points down. Cut your large marshmallows in half. One marshmallow makes two ears. Dust your counter and rolling pin with icing sugar. Roll out the marshmallow halves so they’re flat. Roll out the pink gummy candy. Cut it to look like a long pointed oval (this is the inside of your bunny’s ears). Stick the gummy candy onto the marshmallow ears. Stick the marshmallow ears onto your cupcake. Enjoy!
Roberta Rabbit: Not the Easter Bunny
Millie Pig is a very…interesting little girl. I found out why she’s been acting so strangely around me. For some reason, she thinks I’m either the Easter Bunny or related to the Easter Bunny (I’m not). I guess she got the idea because I was dyeing eggs yesterday, and she happened to see me at the park this morning. My paws were all blue and pink and yellow. When she asked why, I told her about the egg dyeing. Her eyes lit up and she said, “What else are you doing for Easter?”I told her about making baskets (and that I had a LOT to do), and chocolates for everyone. By ‘everyone,’ I meant ‘all my friends.’ Not ‘everyone in the world.’ She got this big smile on her face and said, “Are you going to do my basket soon?” I was about to ask her what she meant, but then she continued and said, “I’ve been a good girl! Please, Easter Bunny Roberta, please bring me lots of good stuff!” I said, “I’m not the Easter Bunny, Millie.” And then she said, “Is the Easter Bunny your aunt?” And I said, “No.” … Read more
Tryouts for the Easter Parade
It’s Cowabelle. I cannot believe what just happened. You know how I was trying out to be the Queen of the Easter Parade? Okay, nothing against Molly. I mean, she’s got that whole shouting thing down and all. But I have been practicing and practicing to play the role of the Queen and I really thought that I would do an awesome job! Oh – and I know Stoogles wanted to be King. I’m sure he’d be great but I swear – I was born to play this part! Anyway, we were all doing our tryouts today. Molly had to bring Millie along because her mom had an emergency at work and had to deal with it. Molly and Stoogles had already auditioned, and I was right in the middle of doing this awesome spring dance that I had prepared, when I noticed that the judges weren’t even really paying attention. They were all looking at something over my shoulder. So I turn around and there is Millie, carrying a basket full of plastic eggs, twirling around and tossing eggs to everybody. The judges were laughing their heads off. Okay, people, I get it. … Read more
