Hey Ganz, as a player since 2007, I want to give some honest feedback on these apps. I think this is a strange idea, and I don’t think it will attract new players like Ganz is hoping. Sure, it might encourage people who don’t have an account to create one; but if I didn’t have an account, paid money for these games, and then created an account, I’d be very, very angry when I discovered I paid money for multiple apps when I could have downloaded one app for free. And then it will just make new players angry, and I don’t think current players are happy with this idea either, based on the comments I’m seeing. So, I don’t think this is a smart marketing move.

I have an idea that could actually make for a better model; it would both help Ganz build its user base while also generating app revenue. Why not make the mobile app into a freemium model? If a player has a full account (i.e. they’ve logged on a pet within the last year or they’re a deluxe member) everything remains free. Otherwise, free members get automatic access to their house, but then there is an in-app purchase to unlock the arcade area. And then, as more areas are added to mobile, free members can continue to purchase access to those areas or else they can upgrade to a full account with either a pet purchase or a deluxe membership. Because honestly, I would pay up to $5 to download the webkinz mobile app as is (which I’m grateful the app is free, but being able to play on a mobile device was my dream when I was younger lol so I ever go back to having a free account and don’t log in any more pets I definitely wouldn’t mind paying to unlock extra stuff within mobile). So I think a freemium model would work better than random games that already exist for free within a different app. Just something to think about!

So… how about those of us who purchased Goobers Lab, Cash Cow, Smoothie Moves, Cloud Corral, GoGoGoogles, and Hoppy Little RocketShip when they were first released~ YEARS ago… It appears that they weren’t “updated” and now we have to purchase them again??? That’s kind of not very cool… (I still have the icons for all of them but CashCow on my phone, but they all give me the message that they need to updated by the developer in order to use them. :/

With releasing these games separately does that mean that these games will no longer be part of the Webkinz app when it moves to an independent app in the future (without the use of Flash)? I would hate to see games being removed from the Webkinz full game, especially since we have to pay for each game. I know , it’s only $1.39 per game, but considering we pay for one pet per year to keep our account active, then pay for a Deluxe membership to have access to “extra” items (which are becoming less unique to Deluxe players as time moves forward) and then of course more items are moving to the estore when released, instead of being released for kinzcash, so that costs money to buy the epoints. I hope that Ganz leaves these games as part of the full Webkinz app, but then sell them separately for those people that have no desire to play Webkinz but would like to play a game or two.

Why do you have to pay for them? I think that you should make them free, because then webkinz mobile players can play online games.

This is just a guess, but perhaps Webkinz is using freestanding games to help promote Webkinz and expand the user base. At 99 cents, new people may try the games. I would suggest though that if Webkinz wants to expand the user base, that they try placing plush pets back in brick and mortar stores and not only depend on the estore.

That’s a good guess but I don’t know anyone who would pay for an app when there are so many like it for free. I would think they would make it free to draw people in and add more things to buy at the Wshop with kinzcash on a regular basis so the items don’t seem old and stale. I agree with you on the plush in the stores, kids would see them and am for them.

There is no way I’m paying for standalone games, ever. What happened to fixing the estore items that we’ve already paid for that still don’t work? Tired of being back-burnered.

I agree with julieyvonne! We don’t need freestanding games, we need Webkinz to spend more time improving the Mobile Webkinz App. Sometimes I can’t get on my home computer cause I am out of town or just away from the house. Being able to check all of Webkinz World on my cell phone would be wonderful. I wouldn’t miss buying rare things at the Curio Shop, or doing all my Daily Activities. PLEASE work on making the Webkinz App more like Webkinz World….soon!

Disappointed again as I bought Cash Cow (and Goober’s Lab) when it was released the first time. Now I have to buy it again, versus Webkinz just updating the older version.

  9. JRS1 says:

I would like to see and be able to play Get Eleven Solataire on Webkinz Mobile.

  10. julieyvonne says:

Please explain the need for freestanding games when we have a Webkinz app. I would like more time devoted to getting daily activities on there than freestanding apps which I would never download on top of my Webkinz app. I’m sorry to be negative it I would like to play webkinz without having to have a laptop so we don’t have to worry about missing events while away places we can’t drag bulky laptops.

    • _emiemiemiemiemi_ says:

Yeah, I agree. I don’t understand the point of making an app for game that you have to pay for, when that game and multiple others already come free on the Mobile App.. I don’t get it.

I think it might be for people who don’t have webkinz accounts so that way they can still play games and if they like them they might get an account. But I don’t really know
