Important Update!

As part of an upcoming General Data Protection Regulation that was recently passed by the European Union, we have added a way for our players to easily delete their Webkinz accounts. This was added to ensure the privacy of our players and to continue our commitment to provide a safe and secure place to play online. Note that once an account has been deleted, it will be permanent deleted and players will not have the option to recover any items, pets or currency associated to their account.

To delete your Webkinz account please complete the following steps:

  1. Log into your Webkinz account at Webkinz.com or from the Webkinz mobile app.
  2. Access the Options menu in the top right of the interface, or from the THINGS TO DO menu on the mobile app
  3. Click on the Delete Account option.
  4. You will be prompted to re-enter your password to confirm your decision
  5. You will be given one last chance to cancel or confirm your decision
  6. Once confirmed, you will be logged out and your account will be deleted.

Again, this decision is permanent and cannot be reversed once completed.

Thanks.

I am with the others thinking this is scary and seems too easy for a hacker. Hope nothing ever goes wrong with this.

you people here are overreacting. at least it’s an option, i made some other accounts and now that the option is there at least it’s available. it’s not like you’ll be forced to use it, and the game isn’t THAT insecure

Wow, this leaves me feeling very uneasy. Passwords are not secure enough to be able to do something as drastic as this. Basic internet security 101 says that. I would feel more comfortable if a confirmation of some kind like an email was needed. I would feel even better it there was some sort of recovery period if it were to happen maliciously. Even if it was just a week. This is highly disturbing and in my opinion a disaster waiting to happen.

Yes! I like the idea of an e-mail confirmation, a recovery period, or even a parents area confirmation.

      • pinkiecupcake says:

Just something other than the password as a safety. Anyone who logged onto the account would be able to delete it that way. I would feel 1500 times safer if there was some kind of recovery possibility, even if only for a week or 72 hours or something!!!

Hmm…well that’s…interesting. I know that I would never, ever delete my account, even if I became completely uninterested in Webkinz for some reason, (because you never know when you’ll wanna come back…plus I mean, I spent a lot of money on all those pets), but I guess it’s useful if there are people who do want to delete their accounts. I just hope that no one ever finds a way to get onto my account and…deletes…it!!! D:

This has potential for disaster! I do not care how careful you are with your info, there are people out there who have ways to find it out. It has been done in the past. These people are mean enough already, now I see them being even more hateful and deleting accounts! PLEASE Steve, Betty, Ganz, rethink this option!!!

    • jsforfr says:

I couldn’t agree more with you Grumpylas. I feel that all of the money and time I have invested into my account is now VERY unsafe because of this horrible change. There needs to be some better, safer way of allowing the deletion of accounts, beyond simply just knowing an account password. Please Ganz, make changes to this and fast to make this more safe for everyone’s data to not be thrown away so easily and with no way of recovery is the worst idea. You should at least save the deleted data for a short period time to allow for recovery if it was done by a hacker of an account. A week, a month would be even better… any active player would know by then that this had happened to their account and could contact you to request it be recovered.

Yes! A lot of users have invested hundreds, even thousands of dollars into their Webkinz accounts over the years! Please create an account recovery option. The lack of one is scaring all of us!!!!!

    Not gonna do it. NOPE.

Sally, will there be an email to confirm we want the account deleted? I feel that this is the only way to stop someone from maliciously deleting our accounts (if they are hacked or if they have our Password) THANK YOU

    • Sally Webkinz says:

No, there is no email confirmation. Not all accounts have emails associated with them. Please ensure that you keep your account information safe and have a strong password. You should not be sharing your password.

    • jsforfr says:

I agree, there needs to at least be some better and safer way of needing more confirmation than just an account password for this. Even if it’s optional, something we can turn on to make it safer and make us all feel more confident that our accounts are safe from malicious people. There should at least be a time period where data can be recovered if an account should be hacked and everything deleted.

Hmm, I’m not sure how I feel about this. When my son was in Elementary school he shared his password with a friend for another online game and of course later this became one of those awkward learning moments for him. Luckily the account wasn’t deleted but with very young kids they sometimes don’t get that they shouldn’t ever share passwords with friends.

    • tkkac says:

Yep. They really need to rethink this. Especially if you have a parent area set up. I can’t believe that you need to log into a parent area to turn ads on or off and go into Kinzchat Plus but not to throw it all away. That makes zero sense.

    • pinkiecupcake says:

I don’t have a problem with there being a porthole through the account to have that done, but I would feel a lot safer if there was some kind of recovery program. If something happened to my account, I would be completely heartbroken!

      • Beckinz8 says:

Same! I would never want to delete my account, and if someone did it for me while I’m still alive, I would be crushed! Just the thought that all of this could disappear in the blink of an eye from a few careless (or malicious) clicks is very unsettling.

      • Lillyiber says:

I feel the same way! Also what if you did it by mistake in your sleep?

  9. BlackBeauty says:

This is so awful, what if someone scams and deletes my account?

  10. FoxesRule612 says:

Oy vey….this is definitely not something I would do, but I’m sure it’s helpful for those who *gulp!* want to delete their accounts.
