What are Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions are a new form of currency in Webkinz World. Each Medallion is pet-specific. When you collect enough of a particular Pet Medallion, you can trade them in to adopt that virtual pet – for FREE! There are also special ‘AnyPet’ Medallions, which act like a wild card and can be used toward any pet.
How do you get Pet Medallions?
You can earn Pet Medallions a couple of ways. Look for the red gift box icon in the Arcade to see which games offer Medallions and when you play one of those games, you have a chance of winning a prize which might be a Medallion! You can win up to 10 prizes per day in the Arcade. And you can earn one ‘AnyPet’ Medallion by trading 10 Pet Medallions of any one pet. Look for more ways to earn Pet Medallions in the future!

Between June 6 and 12 you have even more chances to earn Medallions! You can earn one extra Pet Medallion a day when you see the floating Pet Medallion in Webkinz World and click on it!

Where can you find your Pet Medallions?
Pet Medallions don’t appear in your Dock but it’s easy to see how many you’ve collected. Just open your ‘My Pets’ window and you’ll find a new tab called ‘Medallions’. Medallion pets appear here, along with a meter showing how many Medallions you have collected toward each pet, as well as the total number of Medallions required for each. You can click on each pet for information about its PSI and PSF.

How do you adopt a pet using Medallions?
When you’ve earned enough Medallions to adopt a pet, the meter beneath that pet will change to an ‘Adopt’ button. Just click the button and you will be taken to the Adoption Center and complete the adoption process as you would for any Webkinz pet.

Are Pets adopted using Medallions the same as regular Webkinz Pets?
Just like any Webkinz pet, a Medallion pet comes with its own Pet-Specific Item and Pet-Specific Food, and it behaves like any other pet in Webkinz World. It makes Pet Requests and has Happiness, Hunger, and Energy meters that need to be filled to help increase your Family Score. The only difference is that pets purchased using Medallions do not extend your Full Membership.

Which Pets can you adopt using Pet Medallions?
There are currently twelve pets which can be adopted using Pet Medallions, including two brand new pets that can only be adopted using Medallions! Each pet has a unique Medallion value – the rarer the pet, the more Medallions you’ll need. The pets are:

The Pet Medallions concept is really cool but needs some tweaking. For my family and me earning the medallions is just too time consuming. The double whammy of not always getting a prize plus the prize pool including other things makes it take too long to get medallions. I would rather have the medallions easier to earn, but, perhaps, with a lower limit …say 5 medallions a day. That would at least give us a chance to earn some of the pets. It would also be nice to have medallions earned in other ways like logout carnival or as balloon dart or wheel prizes.
Stop freaking out you guys, Webkinz will listen to us and make things better. The reason it takes so long is because coding is hard work.
You are right. I think they expected that they’ll need to tinker with it.
I have all the games MANY times with very high scores and received two medallions. Played games many hours each day at different times. Totally not worth it. Sad, because I was very excited about this new products. I really want the Owl and Dragonfly too…

Played for 5 hours today. Multiple times, I finished all 10 levels of Crafty Canaries, got 30,000 points on Dogbeard’s Gold, and got to level 7 on Atlantiles. But I got NO pet medallions!!! What gives? I don’t see any positive comments from players. It’s just a lot of frustration and giving up on the new promotion. Please take players’ comments and suggestions into consideration in redesigning this promotion like you do when introducing new room themes. I remember when floaty clicks events were unlimited. As long as players are playing, they should be able to get as many medallions as they can. There should be a way for those who are not good at playing games or just have bad luck in getting medallions in their boxes to be able to get a lot of medallions too. The blue flower/butterfly furniture was released last year and many already have it/don’t want it and extra Kinzcash can be won in so many other ways. Please just make medallions only in boxes. What is the harm in making the medallions more available? Why are there so many limits in the game?
At first when this jump started I was not really receiving medallions for getting high scores, meaning finishing the games and receiving trophies. Then today I got 5 medallions out of the 10 boxes, 1 Blossom fish 1 cat 1 gargoyle 1 tigerlily pup and last but not least a rainbow googles! I also received a token for the diamond dragonfly via logging. Super exited about that! So they are giving tokens for the new googles and dragonfly, I thought I would have to use the any pet medallions for them.
Well, Ganz, you asked for feedback, so here is my opinion – this sounded, at first, to be an exciting new feature. I have collected the daily floating medallion and won three medallions in the arcade on the first day. Today is the fifth day of the campaign, and I’ve won only one additional medal from the arcade. Unless medallions become more accessible in the future as prizes on wheels, in darts, floaty clicks events, etc., the of time required to earn the number of medallions just isn’t worth it. Hundreds of hours playing arcade games to win a virtual pet that is worth $8 – $10 in the Estore is ludicrous – children will abandon this activity after playing a few games and not winning a medallion for their efforts. As an adult player, quite frankly, I’m insulted that you would think I would jump through these ridiculous hoops to spend my summer playing these games. I usually play a few games in the evening to relax and have found no consistency earning these medallions – a “good score” is vague and acquiring a better score than your last is no guarantee, either. No thank you, this feature is not for me.
I completely agree. I don’t know what their definition of “playing well” is because I’m not very good at games but did play one where I made it to level 21, earned 600,00+ points as well as over 100 kinzcash and (after playing for over half an hour) earned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Very sad that earning the medallions is nearly impossible. And, silly me, I thought Webkinz was geared toward children. :(
I have come to agree with the majority pursuing the medallions isn’t worth it. I won some coins and a couple of medallions playing some of the games, but not consistently. I waited 24 hours between games and nothing (and cleared my cache). Some of the games I absolutely don’t enjoy and can’t get beyond a few points no matter how hard I try. Adding insult to injury is the option to trade 10 medallions of one pet for 1 Any Pet medallion. Seriously – ten to one! I recommend putting medallions on the various Wheels, in the Wish Factory, on Today’s Activities, have floaty clicky events for medallions, and reducing the exchange ratio. This would give fans a fair chance at achieving a pet. Otherwise, I agree, this is so out of reach it’s not worth trying.

I have been able to get 2 medallions (both on separate days) by playing Cash Cow. I have ONLY gotten medallions from playing it when I have cleared the entire screen two times per game and received bonus kinzcash twice.
I did that 4 times and I didn’t get any medallion
I hope when it says getting a good score on a game, it doesn’t mean beating your record
I have played several games (many times each) and once I got a prize but it was NOT a medallion. I have limited computer time so I will have to forget this new feature. Sorry Webkins. Too many medallions needed to get a Pet and medallions to hard to get.
