I’ve deleted the app, reinstalled it, restarted my computer and when I try and load the app it saying it installing the update and then disappears… what am I doing wrong?

You aren’t doing anything wrong, but it’s being a bit tricky for some people. If you’re on Windows, make sure you that you’re uninstalling using the Settings -> Apps feature. If you’re on a Mac clear your cache by going to ~/Library/Application Support/Webkinz/Cache/ in Finder and deleting everything in there as well as the app. In both cases, go to webkinz.com and download a fresh copy of the installer from the website. Then install fresh. If it looks like it’s getting stuck on the updating part, leave it until it hits 100% — it’s been taking some time for some people, so just keep trying. Others have had success on the third or fourth attempt to reinstall.

I’m having the same problem as wintercrush. I’m on a Windows laptop. I have uninstalled using the settings menu (right clicked on Webkinz from the settings list, chosen uninstall, then got the screen with all the programs, chosen Webkinz, clicked uninstall). In the past, updates have never worked for me so I’ve always had to go to http://www.webkinz.com to reinstall. This time it doesn’t work. I click to download for windows. I get the exe file. I double click it to start it. I choose “I agree”, at some point it says “preparing to install update”, at some point it says “downloading update . . . 100%” but after that poof it disappears. At that point the Webkinz icon has appeared on my screen as if it has been fully installed, but if I click the icon to start Webkinz it says “Webkinz setup–installing please wait” and then poof that disappears. I’ve tried to leave it sitting there for an hour when I’m downloading it in case I’m being impatient, but it still doesn’t work. In the past uninstalling and reinstalling has worked, but it’s not working this time.

I’ve been trying all afternoon, uninstalling and reinstalling about six times now, but every time I launch the app a small screen pops up saying that it’s installing and then it disappears before it’s even reaches 25% even though I’m not doing anything…

I ended up fixing it by deleting the app and all of the wxsetup.exe files I had as every time I tried to install it would add an other one to my computer. Once everything was deleted I went to the site, downloaded a new one and installed it then the app launched correctly without the issue I was facing before. Hope this helps if others are still struggling.

My sister was having the exact issue you are experiencing (see older comments) earlier today. It took about three hours but she was finally able to log in. Perseverence will pay off! Good luck!

I had this same issue! I have Windows. I have a shortcut to Webkinz desktop app on my desktop. I right clicked it, selected Troubleshoot Compatibility & it fixed it! I hope this helps as I completely understand the frustration & madness! I was installing & uninstalling back & forth & trying a million other things that didn’t help until I finally stumbled upon that Compatibility thing & was finally able to fix it! Good luck!!!

Hello, I followed the instructions to delete the cache by using the finder and I deleted all the caches on my mac, restarted the computer and used another browser (that I don’t usually use) and re-downloaded Webkinz. However I am unable to even get to the log in page. I am not sure what else to do to get the app running. Thank you.

    • Sally Webkinz says:

Is it disappearing or is it freezing?

      • sweetkala says:

Once I click on the app, it starts to load and a pop up will appear, (this screen has the words “Webkinz” and a dog on the right side of the page). On the bottom of this page it says “checking for updates…no update found. From here, it usually directs me to the log in page but has not shown since the issue. I have had this issue several times in the past but I would usually just delete the application, re-download and then it would allow me to continue onto the log in page and be able to normally log in.

I have tried re-downloading 4 times and restarting the computer three times. I also tried deleting all caches again to see if that would help. Still unable to get webkinz working!

Thank you so much for keeping us in the loop! When I went to bed last night, I was so sure that my account had been hacked and it was a pretty gloomy prospect. I logged in this morning on my mobile app, and everything still seemed to be okay, but I feel so relieved now that I see the official word from you guys. My desktop app automatically installed the update, and thankfully it is business as usual. Like so many others, I can’t imagine WW not being a part of my day! Thanks tech wizards! You totally rock!!

I deleted the app and reinstalled it, restarted my computer but same login problem as before.

Are you on a Mac or Windows? If Windows, please make sure you use the uninstall option in Settings -> Apps. If you’re on a Mac, please delete the cache files — go to ~/Library/Application Support/Webkinz/Cache/ in Finder and delete everything in there. For both, after this step go to webkinz.com with a different browser than you normally do, download a fresh copy and install that.

I don’t know what issues you resolved, but you created one. I can’t see all of my dock, only partially. It’s very difficult to see what I have in my dock. Please fix. Thanks.

    • Sally Webkinz says:

Please check your settings for windowed mode. If you had to turn on windowed mode again, simply quit and restart — that should resolve the dock issue.

When I log-in to WebkinzNext, it has saved my username for me. When I was using a browser, it showed me options (I had several accounts) and passwords. Can Webkinz Classic have that same feature as Webkinz Next added? I don’t like having to type my username every time.
