Official Statement on the Future of Webkinz Plush Toys

As many of you are aware, GANZ has not announced any new Webkinz plush pets in the past few months. The last new plush was the beautifully crafted Narwhal. We can now officially state that there will be no new Webkinz plush in 2019 and that the Narwhal will be the final plush toy of the “first generation” of Webkinz plush.

Our reasons for making this decision are three-fold:

  1. For any toy to be produced at an appropriate price, a minimum number need to be produced. Our retail orders for our new styles, even great ones like the Narwhal, had fallen below this minimum.
  2. Our attempts to move plush sales online through the eStore and Amazon did not meet our goals.
  3. After 14 years and over 500 unique pets, this generation of the toy line had run its course.

The reality is that at times every toy brand needs to take a break, evolve and reinvent. Many of the biggest toy brands in the world – My Little Pony, Transformers, Strawberry Shortcake – have had times where there were no toys on retail shelves.

Will this impact Webkinz.com? Not at all. One of the big developments in the past few years is the acceptance of online purchasing. When we launched Ganz eStore in 2008, many players didn’t understand the idea of buying “purely” virtual pets. Now we’re all used to buying virtual items and we’re happy to say eStore use has been going up! Many of our new eStore virtual pets have been well received and are among our best looking pets ever! As we’ve said elsewhere, GANZ is committed to Webkinz.com and with our desktop version coming soon, the future of the game is strong.

Will Webkinz plush be back? Definitely. GANZ was born as a plush toy company and lovable plush will always be near to our hearts. We have had many discussions about future products and how best to bring those products to market. We can’t say anything more about this at this time, but we do hope to have some more announcements later in the year.

In the meantime, you can still find Webkinz plush at Ganz eStore, and through other online retailers. All available plush are “while quantities last,” so if there is a specific pet you’d like, you will want to order it soon.

We’ve all had great experiences with our Webkinz plush and have those favorites that we feel closest to. While we may be taking a break from making new styles, our incredible range of amazing plush toys will forever be a core part of Webkinz World.

I paid for estore coins for my daughter so she could adopt a pet my paypal account shows i was charged but i still have not received any credit in the game. Why, do i need to cancel the payment?

Please contact ganzestorecs@ganz.com for assistance. If you’re buying through the mobile app (which I assume you are, since Ganz eStore doesn’t take Paypal), it may be that the App Store or Play Store has not transmitted the payment to Ganz eStore yet — you may want to get in touch with them, as well.

I love to collect small plushies from ganz but can’t find on stores!

  3. USAPepper says:

Even if you stop selling the plushies, will ones bought in the first generation still have viable codes?

  4. sparklysnail says:

i’m gonna buy as many first generations as i can then haha! i’m looking forward to the next generation already!

I hope Ganz will do a new line of signatures, like the “Large signature black wolf” because that would be really cool and an opportunity to get a lot of money. And maybe they could do plush versions of the original cat and dog?

Since there won’t be any physical plush pets in stores that we can buy and get the codes for, is there any possibility Ganz/Webkinz will bring back the Webkinz Game Cash Cards/Gift cards? I don’t use my credit card for online game purchases. A long time ago, stores like Gamestop, Target and a couple others would get stock from Ganz, but then, the stores said the shipments from Ganz slowed down, until it got to the point where no one was getting them any more (from what I can tell).

two things, one I am so sad that I can’t find any Webkinz in stores because I love to collect the little plushies. and my mom doesn’t like to use her credit card online, there is absolute. no physical store I can go to to find them except for thrift stores and such. two, what if there was a way you could get customized Webkinz pets. like you send in a picture of your pet and you get it back in Webkinz form.

I’d just like to say that I would love to order plush pets online but Ganz will not deliver to PO boxes and the town where I live is so rural that we do not have house to house delivery and everyone has to have a PO box. I was very sad to find this out as I absolutely love collecting the plush toys and it’s hard to get them from other sites too. Ebay Canada does have a few items but most sellers from Ebay.com won’t ship to where I live either and they are not sold in stores here. Very sad :(

I have a suggestion: when generation 2 starts, maybe, if we get Deluxe Membership, we get one exclusive plush every year maybe? Then it would be worth 60 dollars a year. And maybe the exclusive plush could be a plush version of an Estore pet? Then, everyone would want to get Deluxe. It would be a good way of making money. The Estore pets look really cool, so I think everyone would be really happy with GANZ if they did this.

Advice: make multiple versions of plushies like the Shiba Inu. What if someone wants a Webkinz that looks like their Shiba Inu but their shiba inu is black, white and brown (like mine) and you only had a brown one. Something to think about for the next generation of Webkinz.

I have a feeling that if GANZ did this, everyone would rage at them about remakes. :/ Some people get mad about remakes that are good, like the pink ribbon unicorn.
