Special Report – With Sally Webkinz

It’s Sally Webkinz here with everything you need to know about Christmas in Webkinz World!

Christmas is almost here and it’s one of the most exciting times of the year! December has some great food-related activities. (What can I say? I LOVE food!)

From December 1-31, we’ve got the Candy Cane Collection, which has some really awesome festive furniture that you can decorate your holiday rooms with. Did you know that you can collect a Candy Cane each day from Webkinz Newz? It’s true!

Also food related… the Reindeer Calf is practicing some important flying skills in the Kinzville Park, but needs a little encouragement. If you could head over there and give a kind word or two, you’ll be rewarded with a delicious looking Reindeer Calf Cake Pop. Best part? If you eat it, you get a prize!

There’s still more to come, though — soon it will be the Countdown to Christmas in the Clubhouse, and Ms. Birdy will be handing out a unique gift each day. At the same time, you’ll find an Advent Calendar right here on Webkinz Newz, with a special Community Code that you can use to unlock a prize each day, as well!

And, of course, who could forget the main event…. meeting with Flu-.. I mean, Santakinz himself! You can head to the Clubhouse right now until December 24th to sit on Santakinz’ lap and let him know what you want in your Christmas gift box. That’s right, you get to pick your gift, you get a tasty candy cane treat, AND you get a cool picture of your pet with Santakinz, too! And be sure to log in on the 25th to get your gift — you’ll also want to head to the Today’s Activities page to spin the Super Wheel!

The Webkinz Newz team couldn’t resist having their Christmas party a little early, so I took the opportunity to ask them some important questions about Christmas!

SALLY: Thanks for joining me, everyone! I’m so glad you could make it. I just got back from telling Santakinz what I wanted for Christmas and I was curious what everyone else picked! Mandy, let’s start with you.

MANDY: I just love decorating, so I couldn’t resist the Hot Cocoa Sign.

SALLY: I do love the vintage feel of that poster — great choice! Stephen?

STEPHEN: I got the Zangoz Holiday Plushy.

SALLY: The plushies are always a favorite. I had such a hard time picking because I’ve got a plushy collection, but I really wanted the poster, too. I ended up picking the plushy, though. Michael? What did you pick?

MICHAEL: I picked the Hot Cocoa Sign… but then I bought extras of each with my eStore points.

SALLY: D’oh! I should have thought of that. I might have to go back and visit Santakinz again. Since we’re about to have some food, here’s a question that’s near and dear to my heart: what food do you most associate with Christmas? Let’s start with you this time, Michael.

MICHAEL: Eggnog… especially homemade eggnog.

SALLY: Oh, that sounds delicious. I’ll have to bug you for the recipe. Stephen?

STEPHEN: Even though Thanksgiving wasn’t that long ago, I still associate Christmas with turkey.

SALLY: It is delicious, and so often served at Christmas, as well. When I was growing up, we had roast duck sometimes. (Don’t tell Mayor Dr. Quack!) What about you, Mandy?

MANDY: It’s got to be sugar cookies.

SALLY: Oh, yum! I love sugar cookies — they’re so much fun to decorate, too. And I’m sure Santakinz appreciates if you leave him a plate or two, right?

MANDY: For sure! I always bake extra for Santakinz.

SALLY: Good idea! Don’t forget some carrots for the reindeer. The food I most associate with Christmas is… pickled herring! Especially curried pickled herring. It’s just not Christmas without it. Do you guys have any special Christmas traditions with your families?

STEPHEN: Nothing crazy — just opening gifts with family.

SALLY: That is fun — there are so many ways to do something as simple as that! I’ve had Christmases where all the presents were in giant sack, and someone is designated as “Santa” and has to pull out each one and hand them out one at a time. But sometimes it’s nice to get your pile of presents and dig in. What about you, Mandy?

MANDY: Every year, we go to the Christmas tree farm to pick out our Christmas tree!

SALLY: That sounds awesome! Fresh trees smell so great — you just have to remember to keep them watered. Michael? How about you?

MICHAEL: Every year, we watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

SALLY: Oh, that’s a great movie! There’s something very comforting about watching a movie you love again and again with friends and family. My Christmas tradition is that we have Christmas dinner with family on Christmas Eve, then open most of our presents. On Christmas day, we open one more present and spend the afternoon playing board games with close friends!

There you have it, my little elfs. What food do you associate with Christmas? Do you have any special traditions? And, most importantly, what did you ask Santakinz for? Tell us in the comments below!

We all go to my Grandma’s house for a big breakfast of eggs, kielbasi, biscuits and waffles with ice cream. The kielbasi is because my grandma is 100% Polish. My Pa (what we called my grandpa) was 3/4 Polish. We call he Grandma Gorgeous because she used to say “Hello gorgeous” whenever she saw any of her grandchildren when we were babies so that is how she got her name. Pa died 5 years ago so that makes me sad. The tradition to have breakfast at Grandma Gorgeous’s house started because when her children started getting married she didn’t wanted them to have arguments with their husbands or wives about whose house they would have dinner at each Christmas so she started having a big Christmas breakfast so everyone would be free to go to their husband or wife’s family’s house for dinner. Anyone who didn’t have family to go to could stay all day or go home and come back later for dinner. Grandma had 13 children. One of her daughters died in a car accident, my aunt Debbie who we call Angel Deb but she died before I was born. My cousin Tom is Grandma Gorgeous and Pa’s first grandchild. She gave them 2 more grandchildren, her youngest, Emily, was 9 when she died and was my brother Greg’s best friend. We always have ornaments on Grandma’s tree with her picture on it and pictures at her house of Angel Deb. Of her 12 living children 7 are still married, and all the children gave her 29 grandchildren and seven of the grandchildren are married and have given her 17 great grandchildren. That’s 72 people plus Grandma Gorgeous. Of course not everyone can make it, 9 families live in other states and rarely make it here for Christmas. My older brother and his wife and my niece and nephew twins (I am only 5 years older then them) come the day after Christmas and stay here for 4 days or so. One Grandson lives in the Philippines and built, by hand, a treehouse hotel resort that my Daddy invested a little money in so if I ever went there I could stay for free. Anyone all that leads up to our Christmas is spent with a LOT of people (some I only see 3 or 4 times a year) and it is the best time EVER! There are presents galore, Christmas music playing and a lot of laughing and smiling.

Another fantastic special report, Sally! I love the interviews you have been doing–they are so much fun. It was a real treat to read about all the wonderful things happening for Christmas in WW, as well as learn about how everyone enjoys spending the holiday. I love the way WW celebrates Christmas for all of us fans. You guys do such a great job keeping it magical for us. Visiting Santakinz is so adorable! My pets chose the Hot Cocoa sign too, because they already have a cafe, and the sign will look perfect for their Winter Cocoa Festival. (My pets are real entrepreneurs! lol) As for holidays in the real world, I can’t resist sharing my favorite holiday movie: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It’s actually about a man trying to get home to his family for Thanksgiving—but the sentiment of the movie definitely applies to Christmas, as well. It’s very funny and very heartwarming. I think my WW friends would enjoy it a lot.

Love Planes, Trains and Automobiles! My favourite part: the whole highway scene but the transport trucks and Steve Martin pulling his fingers lose from the dashboard gets me everytime!

OH DEAR — Sally has chowed down some of Dr. Quack’s relatives! :O lol, anyways, the food I associate with Christmas is my mom’s cinnamon sugar muffins. I asked Santakinz for the hot cocoa sign, it’s so pretty!

Another fun party from the Real Life Webbies! Mandy. love your hair bow, very pretty and dressy; Sally, good choice on the hairpiece since you can’t have Christmas without a poinsettia and it really matches well with your colour; Michael, great looking toque and boots but maybe you should switch sides with Stephen so you’re closer to the fire – oops, fire is out; and Stephen, always a little monkeying around from you with the fun hat choices you pick, and are those Santa slippers you have on?

Sally, really love your room! You’ve put a lot of thought and detail into it. I’d be using the cushy-looking Santa stool to sit to take my boots off when I arrived – had I been invited to the party! I would love to be there Christmas morning when the gifts are opened. With the Zangoz Holiday Plushy peaking around the divider along with the friend’s snow globe, I imagine the presents are filled with lots of fun things for everyone. Can you share what you’ve wrapped? (psst: If you invite me for Christmas, I’ll gladly give you my share of the pickled herring!)

It’s the traditional turkey and all the fixings for me for Christmas, especially the stuffing and cranberries; and, of course, a glass of eggnog… now that I’m older and acquired a taste to it. I do miss my Mom’s tradition of lighting the tiny candles below a tin angel that twirled and tinkled from the heat, so pretty… but don’t touch! My brother inherited it so I’ve looked for another one for a long time. I asked Santakinz for the Zangoz Holiday Plushy, a must have for my collection.

From Me to You, For Christmas:

Christmas will soon be upon us
I wish you all the very best
But I ask you to do one tiny thing
A good deed for someone else
For the bit of joy that it will bring
Then I will hope your Santakinz
    Will bring that special plush
From Webkinz, the one you really wanted,
But thought you would never get
Oh, the joy, of getting a Ganz pet!

Have a wonderful Christmas season, everyone!

Hi guys! When I was a child, at Christmas time we always had a bowl of mixed nuts in the shells sitting around, with little hand-held nutcrackers and picks. One year Mom took all of her perfectly opened empty Walnut shell halves, glue them back together, carefully covered them with foil, and hung them on our Christmas tree! At our house, regardless of what else we got, Santa always left an apple and an orange in our stockings. And back then, we always wrote on a calendar when our favorite Christmas shows would be on TV so we wouldn’t miss them, because that was the one and only time we got to watch that show until next Christmas! Anyway, If I had to choose just one Santakinz gift, it would have been the sign. Say, where can I find the wallpaper and flooring of the room you’re in? And that snowflake rug? >{^;^}<

I guess I associate cheese and crackers and other “appetizer” type food with Christmas because that’s what we always eat on Christmas Eve haha. Ribbon candy too. I’ve never eaten ribbon candy but my grandma always has it out on Christmas. Our Christmas tradition has always been going to my grandma’s house on Christmas Eve. I’m going to ask Santakinz for the poster
