Statement on Recent Cheating Account Bans

This is a follow up to the following notices, among many others over the years:

Reminder: Cheating can lead to losing your account

Reminder: Cheating will not be tolerated

Despite these repeated warnings, we unfortunately continue to have accounts that attempt to exploit issues in the game. Let us be clear once again: when we find evidence of exploits being used to gain KinzCash or items, duplicate items, or gain Diamonds in Webkinz Next, we may, at our sole discretion, ban those accounts or apply other account restrictions as we see fit.

It will not matter if you have been a member for a day or ten years, have two pets or fifty, are Deluxe or not Deluxe. It will not matter how much was gained, or which item was attempted to be duplicated. It will not matter if you are actively using the cheat, or were simply testing it.

For the vast majority of you who play as the game was intended, we thank you, and give you the following advice:

If you see or read about an exploit, hack, or duplication bug, don’t use it. Don’t even test it. It’s not worth losing your account over.

If you are asked for your user name and/or password to give you prizes, trades, or to “look after” your account from anyone who is not a known employee of Ganz, do not give it. You will have no control over what is done on your account, and may lose your account over those actions.

Thank you for reading, and have fun in Webkinz World.

I’ve seen a couple players get banned for errors in the cheat tagging system and a lot of other players playing fearfully to try to avoid flagging it, this doesn’t give too much confidence that those errors were corrected.

I really don’t know whose side to take here. Although Webkinz support is a little lacking, and people are probably being banned for no reason and losing lots of money they put into the game, cheating cannot be tolerated. I try my hardest to warn people about the consequences of cheating, so please don’t cheat, it isn’t worth it.

Ganz, I’m asking you to please stop blaming your customers. You’re not catching cheaters, you’re punishing innocent accounts. And please, be available when your customers need assistance. Ignoring us isn’t helping your image.

Ganz has been banning innocent accounts without reason due to glitches in the game that most of us know nothing about. It’s sad that Ganz has been lax in helping players retrieve their accounts. It’s almost impossible to get ahold of them through email and their customer support number always goes to voicemail. Thankfully I got my account back, but there are many friends I have that haven’t been as lucky.

I have read quite a few reports of accounts being banned for false accusations of cheating. One I just read today, someone was banned for duplicating apples! Of all things, why in the world would anyone want to duplicate apples????!!!! I fully understand that you want to catch cheaters, but, please do some work on your end, and fix the issue of people being falsely accused of something they didn’t do, or accidentally did something that ended up looking like cheating.

What if a glitch in the system registers as cheating, or if someone accidentally comes across a bug in the system without realizing it? Does Webkinz Support take that into account? I love that Webkinz is such a safe site that takes the rules seriously, but I would be sorry to see an account banned over something that wasn’t intentional.

I was wondering this too. I have a slow internet and might not realize something is a server-side glitch. I also could see younger child players in general not realize if something is a glitch.

This upsets me greatly; to hear of slightly draconian measures, taken by Ganz, against some players. Ganz; webkinz staff; that we consider “friends”, please hear me. Not only young players but we older ones may be punished so harshly for something we do not even realize or in cases understand. Many of us, as we age, suffer from debilitating conditions, not only physical but mental as well. For many of us, this site is a welcome and needed relaxation, that we safely participate in. I now feel fear of unknowingly transgressing in some way and being left feeling bereft, with what sounds like no way of rectifying an error or accident. Please be more helpful and understanding. I am one such aging player and struggle with many such debilitating conditions. Thank you from a long time loyal friend and customer.

I remember last year, the kiwi medallion box was glitched and you could open it as many times as you wanted. Lots of people initially got banned for opening it too many times, but after emailing Webkinz support they were unbanned. So if you get banned for a glitch, you have a chance.

Whoa, this sounds a little creepy. I know Ganz is just protecting the game, but I would not like my account to be deleted. I have so many cute pets! But I never cheated and I never will, so, hopefully, I won’t have to visit this post often.

I have no idea how anyone could illegally gain kinzcash or duplicate items! But there is something I have wondered about. If a person starts a new account using the Helping Paws code from their old account, and then does a lot of work on the new account thereby earning Helping Paws prizes and points for the old account (same player u no) Is that cheating?? Please let me know. Thanks. gml

Thank you Ganz, for keeping Webkinz such a safe game. I really appreciate it!

My account was recently banned for attempting to duplicate items, but I didn’t do anything. I didn’t even know anything was wrong until I got logged out. Is there a way to discuss what happened? I would accept a punishment if I had done something wrong, but I really didn’t.
