Due to an issue beyond our control, as of January 1, 2021, Webkinz Classic will no longer work on browsers. The Flash plug-in, which is required for our site to run will not be supported by browsers after December 31, 2020.
The good news is that Webkinz Classic has a downloadable Desktop App that functions exactly the same way as our original site, but it doesn’t require a browser in order to play!
To make sure your play is uninterrupted, it’s important to download the Desktop App as soon as possible.
Ask your parents for help downloading the Desktop App and installing it on your computer.
Downloading the app is simple. Just visit the Webkinz homepage, and click one of the download buttons. There is a version for Windows and a version for Mac.
When the download has completed click on the wxsetup.exe in Windows or wxsetup.dmg on Mac in your Downloads folder and follow the prompts.
Once it is installed, you’re all set! You can continue to enjoy the same game you know and love!
And remember – you must install the Webkinz Classic Desktop App before January 2021 in order to enjoy uninterrupted play.
Sally, you haven’t answered if there will be a version for Chromebook. My other laptop broke and all I have is this chromebook and I can’t play.
I also haven’t been able to play for two days. I’ve downloaded and installed a new copy of the app but with the same problems, nothing works. I’m on a Mac.
I can’t get into webkinz, either. Ever since your maintenance on, I believe it was January 20, I can’t get in. When I click on my webkinz icon is says it is installing the new update, but it doesn’t finish installing. I sent an email to webkinz support but have not received a reply. Please help! I’m missing so much that is going on in Webkinz!
Try uninstalling, downloading a fresh copy from webkinz.com and then reinstalling.
Is there a way to zoom in while using the desktop app? The games are way too small! I used to be able to zoom in on the web version, but I can’t seem to figure it out on this new desktop version.
I am on a Mac. I was able to play, then all of a sudden with no system changes. I can’t log into the downloaded application. It gets hung up on the “Checking for updates… no update found”. Then freezes. I have to do a force quit to get out of the program. I haven’t been able to log in since Wednesday. I have downloaded/uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times.
Same is happening to me, it just freezes on a blue screen. Please fix this, it’s pretty much impossible to play now!
It has been doing that for me too. I have a Mac and I emptied my cache and reinstalled. It worked for a couple of days but stopped working again. They are having some real issues with this app. I hope that they would at least let us know that they are working on it instead of telling us to do what we have already done.
It did that to me several times, each time I have had to uninstall the app go back to the webkinz.com home page and down load the app again. It just happened last night, saying incorrect password, but the enter bar was a light blue for the first 3 letter you type in password, then went to a brighter blue.
Is there going to be a version for Chromebooks anytime soon?

I was totally bummed today that you took down the website today, Because when on the app I can’t have multiple tabs/pages up. We were still able to use the website just fine by adjusting the clock back on our computer and were expecting to be able to do that for a lot longer.
We no longer support playing Webkinz World through the browser.
I sent an email to support on the 5th about not being able to log in and haven’t received a response. Is COVID still causing a larger backlog/Should I send another?

After the update, I was able to log in once, now I’m back to just the ‘W’. It’s like it didn’t log me out properly and now I can’t log in. I know about the customer service backlog and am patiently waiting. Super Bummer tho….I miss my kinz…

I’ve done that 4 times now throughout the day. It doesn’t work.
Some people have reported issues related to their anti-virus software — it prevents them from logging and/or installing.
