URGENT: Keep Playing With the Desktop App!

Due to an issue beyond our control, as of January 1, 2021, Webkinz Classic will no longer work on browsers. The Flash plug-in, which is required for our site to run will not be supported by browsers after December 31, 2020.

The good news is that Webkinz Classic has a downloadable Desktop App that functions exactly the same way as our original site, but it doesn’t require a browser in order to play!

To make sure your play is uninterrupted, it’s important to download the Desktop App as soon as possible.

Ask your parents for help downloading the Desktop App and installing it on your computer.

Downloading the app is simple. Just visit the Webkinz homepage, and click one of the download buttons. There is a version for Windows and a version for Mac.

When the download has completed click on the wxsetup.exe in Windows or wxsetup.dmg on Mac in your Downloads folder and follow the prompts.

Once it is installed, you’re all set! You can continue to enjoy the same game you know and love!

And remember – you must install the Webkinz Classic Desktop App before January 2021 in order to enjoy uninterrupted play.

Oh my dear webkinz. Last night it was working, this morning I can’t even log in. Why so sporadic? I use a Mac and have followed all your uninstall, clear cache things from previous comments. It wasn’t working after all that stuff, after the recent update, I didn’t change anything, just tried again and it worked, no problems and then suddenly, not even a log in page. I am trying to have patience around the new app, but it is disheartening and frustrating.

Webkinz Classic is not loading for me. My internet connection is fine. All I get is the Magic W loading screen as of today.

How are all those Chromebook Players doing? Are you guys getting to play Webkinz Classic? If not, I’m really sorry. I’m sure Webkinz will think of something. The other day I was feeling SO bad for Chromebook Players. It’s really sad they can’t play. Everybody should be able to play Webkinz. Please fix this Webkinz! :( Good luck Chromebook Players!❤

This kinda makes me sad, Ive been playing webkinz since 2008 and I’m ineligible to download the app on my Chromebook. I’m trying to log in other ways, but for now, thanks for the memories webkinz.

    • frozenanna2 says:

Aww, I’m crying! :( you should get a new Laptop or computer! That’s not fair the Chromebook players have to give up playing! :( this makes me so sad. Don’t worry, they’ll think of something! They always do!

  5. aastrs says:

I can no longer play because all I have is a chromebook. It’s not worth it to just be limited to what the mobile app has :(

Hi, is there anyway to or setting to use to make it so you can see your dock in the trading room and still type to talk with friends. Everytime I try to speak my dock disappears. It nearly disappears anytime your not in your room, which makes it really annoying to go to the club house or send mail post. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it.

Add us to the list of Mac users that are unable to play right now. We also removed and reinstalled the app, but it still does the same thing and won’t let us login. We can get the main screen to open, but when we click ‘play’ the boxes disappear and we can only see the background rather than enter our login info. For a couple of days before this problem we could get in, but it was glitchy in wish factory, vacation island and the arcade – anywhere we had to click a button to play (wheels, games, etc.). Hope it gets fixed soon!

Please uninstall the app and download a fresh copy from webkinz.com — you may need to use a different browser than you normally do, as some players had been downloading a cached version. Then do a fresh install.

Hi Sally. Betty Butterkinz worked with me on this Mac/Webkinz App failure extensively, 2 days ago. However, I was only using the browser Safari. As you suggested above, I have now tried the browsers Firefox and Google Chrome. Uninstalling, reinstalling per instructions above, restarting computer at each step. The Webkinz Classic App just isn’t working for Mac 11.1 version, or after the Mac update to 11.2 on the desktop model. I understand it might be working on the MacBooks? Any other recommendations? Thank you

        • Sally Webkinz says:

They’re looking into it, so no recommendations right now, sorry

          • appleblossomrose says:

Thank you Sally. The App was working several months for Mac users, then stopped, before any Mac updates. But wasn’t the Webkinz desktop app itself updated? So sad to not be able to participate in the Valentine events. A 15 year member household, and can’t get this years Cinnamon chocolates to add the the collection, let alone the lovely prize.

          • Sally Webkinz says:

The Desktop App was updated back in November, yes. Most of the issues I’ve seen with Mac users have been with the 11.15.7 update. If you haven’t already tried doing a search on your computer to delete every file that’s Webkinz-related and then download a fresh copy from webkinz.com and install again, it’s worth trying. Most of the issues for other Mac players has been that their copy of the Desktop App did not update

          • Sally Webkinz says:

Couple of other things to try, based on the experiences I’ve seen for others. If you have anti-virus, like McAfee, it may be preventing Webkinz from connecting. If you have a way of whitelisting, you may want to do that. Another issue that sometimes happens is if the internet speed is too slow, it’ll drop off before you can connect. If you can try a little closer to your wifi router, or plug directly into it, that’s also worth trying

      • dancingfish7 says:

I just tried this, still no change. I can login, and the daily activities have been working and the map so I can collect Valentines, but not the arcade, clubhouse, or island. :(

        • Sally Webkinz says:

Are you on the latest version of Mac OS? We’re seeing some reports of players having issues after updating, so just want to confirm

          • dancingfish7 says:

No, I am using 10.15.7 …I would consider updating the system to see if it would help but that is a big change and since the app was working before on this system I was thinking the issue was with the game. Thank you for looking into this issue!

          • Sally Webkinz says:

Thanks for letting us know — if there are other Mac users experiencing issues, please let us know what OS version you’re running

          • Sally Webkinz says:

OK, something to try! Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Webkinz/Cache/. Delete all the files in this folder, and restart the Webkinz Application.

          • dancingfish7 says:

Sally! Your question made me think and I tried out my old MacBook. It has never had the app installed. I downloaded and installed the app…and it works! All the parts of the game that still don’t work on my computer with the newer operating system WORK on my old MacBook. It is running operating system 10.11.6 :) I hope that helps…

          • dancingfish7 says:

Sally! :) I found the cache folder and deleted all the items in it. That seems to have fixed it! So far all the parts of the app that were not working for me before seem to be working now! Thank you thank you for helping! :)

          • cookiecat says:

We’ve tried all of your suggestions so far and still get a blank screen after clicking play in the app rather than login boxes. We are running MacOS 11.2.1. Have not been able to login since 1/30/21 on this MacBook Air laptop.

          • Sally Webkinz says:

The other person with 11.2.1 who experienced this issue was working again after manually clearing the cache: Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Webkinz/Cache/. Delete all the files in this folder, and restart the Webkinz Application.

          • cookiecat says:

Thank you, Sally Webkinz! That finally got it back to working. For others the shortcut to the folder on a MacBook Air is through the ‘Go’ menu on the main desktop. Under that click “Go to folder…” and copy and paste what Sally posted to get into the cache to clear.

I keep having a lot of freezing issues where something just never follows through. Like the coupon machine just eternally runs and never actually spits out and awards my coupon. When I reach the prize box from login, it gets to the point where it looks like it will pop open but never does and I end up having to close out of the entire app and who knows if I get jilted of the prize or not. These things used to happen sometimes when playing on a browser but now with the app they seem to happen constantly.

  9. dancingfish7 says:

Still can’t play the game on Mac. It was working fine, then a few days after the update it keeps malfunctioning. I’ve tried uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling. It’s still the same. :(

  10. sunnyten10 says:

I wish you could fix Grand Grotto so it didn’t freeze. I LOVE that game, but it’s so frustrating when it looks like I’ll finally pass a difficult level and it freezes when the water flows to the next stage.

    • 9846858 says:

When we still had flash and the website, with my old computer I thought webkinz ran so slow. Now with the app and a new computer, the app keeps freezing to the point I have to shut down my computer bc it won’t let me exit the app and it happens everyday.

      • sunnyten10 says:

I was having the same problem with freezing until Sally Webkinz told me to do a control+alt+delete or open the Task Manager and manually end Webkinz. This has saved me from restarting my laptop a lot. I hope it helps you. :)
