A Letter from Laurabeard – FINALLY!!!

Dear Nibbles, I’m sorry I haven’t written to you. It’s just been so crazy around here. There’s been a stowaway on board and we have been searching high and low trying to find them. I’ve actually been kind of scared, knowing there was someone out there but not knowing who it was. Then, the other day I was heading back to my cabin after dinner and I heard this strange sound. It was like a whining noise. I didn’t know what was making the sound but it seemed to be coming from a lifeboat that was hanging on the side of the ship. I thought it might be the stowaway and I wanted to go and get Dogbeard, but we had searched so long and hard, I was afraid that they would just get away again if I left. So I walked quietly over to the lifeboat and, being careful not to make a sound, I lifted the cover. And do you know what I saw? Crouched down in the lifeboat was a little boy crying. As soon as he saw me he started crying even harder. He told me that he had wanted to see the world so he … Read more

Hailey and Elwin’s Studio: the Bathroom

Hi readers! It’s Elwin. When Hailey and I set out to design the bathroom for our new studio we wanted something that would really wow prospective clients. Chances are we won’t be taking a lot of baths while we’re working, but we wanted clients to see how impactful a well-designed bathroom could be. We decided to go with an elegant yet modern theme in shades of pink. We started with the Trading Card Condo Wallpaper. It really stands out against the icy white First Snow Flooring. The Stress Soaker Hot Tub makes a stunning focal point in the room while the Whimsical Water Fountain is our creative alternative to a regular sink. Along with the marble columns it adds a very regal feel to the room. We added a feature wall with a pair of crystal chandeliers flanking a Pretty in the City Painting, set over top of a Frosted-Top Dining Table. I think anyone would feel pretty special to have a bathroom like this. I know we sure do. And I hope our clients feel the same.

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 3

Holly started to cry as soon as the door closed. I guess she realized that Molly and Millie had officially left her with this strange Rabbit. I tried humming and walking again, but it didn’t work. I decided to see if maybe Holly was hungry. In the fridge, I found a bottle labeled “2:30 – heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.” Even though it wasn’t quite 2:30 (nowhere near, actually), I decided that maybe we should give it a try. I heated the bottle, made sure it wasn’t too warm, and then sat down with Holly on my lap. And she drank the whole thing! After that, she seemed kind of sleepy again. Since she wasn’t crying, I figured it would be smart NOT to move her. So I sat on the couch and lo and behold – she fell sound asleep! After about 20 minutes, she got SUPER heavy, but I still didn’t move. And after about 10 minutes more, I heard the sound I had been waiting for – the turning of a doorknob. “We’re home!” came Molly’s mom’s voice. You can only imagine how surprised she was  when she saw Holly and I alone in the … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 2

Millie burst into tears. Her nose was bleeding and I don’t do so well with blood, so Molly said “Roberta, you take care of Holly – I’ll help Millie.” I ran into the spare room and saw Holly standing up in her crib. She was so cute! But so freaked out to see me. I guess she was expecting to see her mom or her aunt, because as soon as she laid eyes on me, she began to wail much louder. I decided I should try to pick her up. I didn’t realize how heavy she’d be! I managed to scoop her out of her crib (somewhat awkwardly) and hold her against my shoulder. She was REALLY upset at that point (can you say hysterical?), but I started walking around the room, humming a little tune. After a few minutes, she started to calm down. After about ten minutes of walking, she was just whimpering. I walked into the living room with her and found Molly sitting with Millie, who was holding an ice pack on her nose. “I think her snout might be really hurt,” Molly said nervously. “I’m going to see if Debbie Dragon can drive us to … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 1

Guess what I did today? I babysat!  And it went…well, let me tell you the story. Molly called me first thing this morning and said “guess who’s in town?” I guessed Dacey Bryn and SantaKinz, and then she stopped me and said, “No! My Aunt Maria and my cousin Holly!” And I said, “Great!” And she said, “Want to help me babysit Millie and Holly this afternoon?” And I said, “Sure!” I figured it would give me some practice with babies. You know, for when my sibling is born. I arrived at Molly’s house at around 1:30. Holly had just gone down for a nap, so I thought we were in for a pretty easy afternoon. Molly’s mom and aunt were going to go out shopping for two hours, so it wasn’t as if we were going to be babysitting for a long time. Molly’s mom said that they’d probably be back before we heard a peep from Holly. And that might’ve been the case. If it hadn’t been for…Millie. Molly and I had just locked the door behind her mom and aunt, when Millie came running down the hall yelling “LET’S GET READY … Read more

Hailey and Elwin’s Meeting and Break Room

Hailey and I agreed that when we had a studio of our own, we’d have an awesome break room.  We also needed a very spacious and official looking meeting area. In this case, it’s the same room! We just got creative in how we divided it up.       As you can see, the left part of our room is all about meetings. We’ve got a big, long boardroom-type table, some delicious snacks (and a fancy drink machine), and a fireplace (for ambiance!). On the right side of our room, we’ve got a kitchen and seating area. And let me tell you, that couch is surprisingly comfy and nap-worthy. Not that I’d know from experience. Ahem. Anyway, I’m really pleased about how the whole thing turned out. Having two doors makes it extra-convenient to go into part of the room while not disturbing anything that’s happening in the other area. What do you think of our meeting room, friends?

Roberta’s Sibling

Dear Diary, I told my friends about the fact that I’m going to be a big sister pretty soon (in a few months!).  I also told them about having to move – even though we’re not leaving Kinzville, it’s another big change and I wanted to share it with them.   And know what? Each of my friends had a different opinion on what was happening. Unsurprising, since all of my friends are very…well…different!   Stoogles: said that siblings are overrated. Of course, that could be because he has about a dozen of them. He said that sharing a bathroom is no fun, and sharing toys is even worse. I reminded him that I’m going to be a lot older than my brother or sister, so the toy thing isn’t an issue. And since we’re moving, we’ll probably have more than one bathroom in the house.   Salley: said that she was happy for me, and even a little jealous. She’s always wanted a sibling.   Cowabelle: said that babies are a lot of trouble and make a TON of noise. She said I could escape to her house whenever I wanted, and told me to encourage my parents to … Read more

Laurabeard’s Diary

Dear Diary, I’m still kind of freaked out by what happened when we followed the footprints that had been left by the thief. It’s so strange – the footprints didn’t lead to any of the crew’s cabins. Instead the trail led to the cargo hold. In fact, it led to a pile of barrels and then disappeared. Dogbeard pushed aside the barrels and there was all of the missing food that the cook had been complaining about. What was left of the food anyway – there were lots of wrappers and apple cores and banana peels. There was also a small bed made up behind the barrels, as if someone has been sleeping there, but who could it be? Dogbeard says that it’s a stowaway, someone who snuck on board and has been hiding out there since we set sail. We searched around for the stowaway but they’re pretty good at hiding because we had no luck. To be honest, it’s kind of creepy to think that there is a stranger on board ship. I wonder why they’re here. I guess that’s why I find it so hard to sleep at night and I’m here writing in my diary. Whoever … Read more

Hailey and Elwin’s Reception & Consulting Room

Hailey here. So here is our new reception area and I know what you’re thinking. I thought exactly the same thing when Elwin showed up with the dinosaur. What the heck is THAT doing there? Elwin says that our reception is going to be where clients get their first impression of our work and that we needed to knock them out with an unforgettable ‘statement piece’. At first I thought he was crazy but before long Tyrone really started to grow on me. With the monotone feel of the orange walls and parquet flooring, it really is cool to have one item that just jumps out at you. Or rather looks as if it might jump out at you – literally. We used some awesome pieces from the Avante Condo Theme for our reception area to tie in with the orange color scheme, but we created a contrasting conversation area with a couple of purple sofas mixed with orange accent tables. Elwin’s right about creating an impression. I really think this room has a lot of impact. Oh, and just between us – please don’t tell Elwin that I’ve … Read more

Roberta’s Big Surprise

Dear Diary, You are never, ever in a billion years going to believe what my parents told me today. Remember how I said they were acting distant? And how they were being weird? Well, now I know why. My mom is having a baby! My parents didn’t know exactly how to tell me. They said that since I’ve been an only rabbit for so long, they didn’t know how I’d take the news. They made a special dinner and called me into the dining room. On the wall was a banner. It said, “You’re going to be a big sister!” I nearly fainted. That’s honestly what happened. The room got a little dim and I felt my knees turn to jelly. My dad grabbed a chair and helped me sit down. He got me a glass of carrot juice and told me to drink it slowly. My mom held my paw and asked if I was OK. I just drank my juice and nodded. After a few moments, my dad asked what I thought. What do I think? That’s a tough question. Part of me is really excited – I’ve always … Read more

Elwin’s New Studio!

Hey all! Elwin here, thrilled to show you my brand new studio – and it might even surprise you! I know that when Hailey and I design rooms, I tend to be on the…shall we say, colorful side. My designs are almost always wilder than hers. Yet, my studio is definitely pretty tame. Don’t believe me? Check it out!                     See what I mean? It’s not crazy at all! And here’s why: when you’re working with lots of different colors, and when you have a very colorful personality, sometimes it’s necessary to keep your surroundings a little more peaceful. I love the bright gold countertops and desk, I adore the bright red curtains that contrast with the leafy-patterned green walls, and I was really lucky to score the settee! It’s super-comfy, and a great place to escape when I want to do some brainstorming in peace. Also, it’s quite good for napping.

No word from Laurabeard

It’s Nibbles here and I’m really starting to worry about Laurbeard. She wrote to me last week about a strange happening onboard Dogbeard’s ship. Apparently someone was stealing food from the galley. Laurabeard and Dogbeard were on their way to investigate and I haven’t heard anything since. I just hope that everything is okay! I hate to think of Laurabeard out there at sea with a thief on the loose! And it’s just not like her not to write. Oh, I really hope that she lets me know what is happening soon! I can’t bear not knowing!

Plumpy Chooses her Dress!

Dear friends, Guess what? I’ve chosen which wedding dress I want to wear! After hearing from so many of you (thank you for your opinions, by the way!), I decided that option 1 is the dress for me. It’s so beautiful; white with deep pink looks just gorgeous. I haven’t shown Charles, of course, but I know he’s going to absolutely LOVE it when I walk down the aisle! Thank you again for all of your support. I’m so happy – I just wish there was something I could do to share the happiness with all of you. Hm. That gives me an idea…I just need to go and ask an old friend for a favor. Love, Plumpy

Hailey & Elwin Move Into Their New Studio

Day 1 – Hailey’s Studio So Elwin and I have moved into our new studio space and we are so excited! We love designing so just imagine how much fun we’re having getting to design for ourselves! Of course it’s ideal that the Creative Studio Theme we consulted on has just come out in the W Shop because I was able to put a lot of the pieces to good use when I designed my personal studio, where I can go and work on my own when I need to. I decided to split up the room into two spaces. On one side I can discuss designs with clients and plan out my spaces, and on the other side I can sew and paint to my heart’s delight and not have to worry about clients seeing my mess. Because the creative process is not always pretty, my friends! I found these awesome graffiti walls that went really well with the exposed brick in the wallpaper I chose. I think that along with some of the pieces of the Persian theme and the new Creative Studio theme and a few other quirky odds and ends I’ve created a really eclectic space … Read more
