Roberta’s New Craft Room
So I guess this whole baby thing is turning out pretty well. Our new house is pretty cool, but the best thing about it? I get a whole room JUST for making crafts!!! How awesome is that? There is this room in the basement that used to be the laundry room before they moved the laundry room upstairs. So it’s even got a couple of sinks which is perfect. And you know what else? Because my mom and dad hired Hailey and Elwin to decorate our new house, they are going help me decorate my craft room too! How many kids get to have professional designers come and design their craft room? I am so pumped! Especially with all the cool pieces from the Creative Studio Theme that are in the W Shop! Hailey said that we could try it a few different ways and then I could decide which one I liked best, so Hailey designed it one way, Elwin did another design and then the three of us worked together to come up with a third design. … Read more
Polly’s Cake
Hey, it’s Molly and the plans for Polly’s surprise party are going really well! I don’t think she suspects a thing! The only problem is that we couldn’t decide what kind of cake to make. We all want something different. Alex said that girls like flowers so we should have a cake with flowers on it. Way to stereotype, Alex! Stoogles says that he is a traditionalist and that a plain old birthday cake with her name on it is all we need. You know how crafty Roberta can be? Well, she wants to design a cake with Polly’s face on it. Sounds complicated. And Nibbles and I both love cupcakes. Aren’t cupcakes always better than cake? So we thought the best thing to do would be to go off in pairs and come up with a cake design. Then we could choose our favorite design and make that one. Maybe you could help us choose. Alex & Sparky Girls like flowers, right? That’s why Sparky and I wanted to make this neat chocolate cake for Polly. She’s a girl. We even made purple icing by mixing red and blue food … Read more
Roll-Up Sandwich Recipe
We’re going to need lots of tasty snacks for Polly’s surprise party so Stoogles came up with these delicious roll-up sandwiches. Starting at one end of tortilla, roll up tightly and then secure with a toothpick. Wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Before serving, unwrap and cut in half. Polly is going to love these sandwiches almost as much as she likes having a surprise party thrown for her!
Simple Strawberry Ice Pop Recipe
Here’s a sweet idea for a treat to serve at Polly’s surprise party! What You Need - Strawberries - Blender - Sieve - Ice pop moulds or cups - Plastic wrap - Wooden craft sticks - An adult helper What you do With the help of an adult, put the strawberries into a blender and blend until pureed. Using a wooden spoon, push through sieve into a medium bowl to remove seeds. Pour puree into ice pop moulds and stretch plastic wrap tightly over the top. Push a craft stick through the plastic wrap into each ice pop (the plastic wrap will help the craft sticks to stand up) and then place in freezer. Let freeze overnight and then enjoy!
Planning Polly’s Party
So I was meeting with the ‘Kinz today and I told them all that Polly’s birthday was on the 28th and they were just as excited as I was! They all want to help me plan her party! I didn’t mention that Polly said that she didn’t want a party, because really, who doesn’t want a party? So all the ‘Kinz said that they would help me with the party! Stoogles says he is going to choose the tunes for the party and Roberta said she would craft the invitations and some decorations. Cowabelle and Sparky are going to make the cake and Alex said that he will help Roberta put the decorations up. I am going to get cooking and make loads of food for the party. This is going to be so much fun. Polly will be so thrilled!
Molly Finds Out Something About Polly
Hi! It’s Molly and I just found out something I never knew before! I’ve always wondered when Polly’s birthday was but she has never told me. Whenever I asked she would always just change the subject. But I was over at her house for dinner and Polly’s mom said that Polly’s birthday is coming up on May 28th! That is just around the corner! I was so excited! I told Polly that we could have a big party but she said she didn’t want that and just to forget about her birthday. Forget about a birthday??? How is that even possible? Polly cannot be serious. Everybody likes a big party on their birthday, right?
Mother’s Day in Kinzville
Ella McWoof here with a special report for Mother’s Day. Today I am interviewing some Kinzville residents to find out how they are honoring their moms on this special day. Ella McWoof: Here’s young Sparky Fact. Sparky, would you like to tell us what you are doing for your mom today? Sparky: Sure! I made my mom the coolest gift this year. I was helping my Uncle Arte out in the mines a couple of weeks ago, when I found this really cool, shiny rock. Uncle Arte said that it wasn’t really a valuable rock but I thought it was really pretty so I decided to make a necklace out of it and my mom loved it! Ella: That’s really cool, Sparky! I see you’re with Alex. Alex, can you tell us what you are doing for your mother for Mother’s Day? Alex: I made my mom breakfast in bed this morning and then I cleaned up the kitchen all by myself. And tonight my dad and I are taking my mother out for dinner. Ella: Here is Cowabelle. Cowabelle, how is Ms. Cowoline enjoying this Mother’s Day? Cowabelle: Well, I saved … Read more
Purr-Cilla’s Awesome Party
Dear Diary, Guess what? Remember how I figured my birthday was over and the party wasn’t going to happen? Well, surprise! Penelope and Janice saved the day. After I told them to forget about the party, they went to the park and started rounding up the kids. They told them about all the fun stuff I had planned, and told them that they could bring any friends they wanted to my house. And they did! SO many kids started arriving. I couldn’t believe it! And even though none of them had a gift for me, I didn’t even care. I just wanted guests. And then guess who showed up? The ‘Kinz. PLUS Salley Cat. And you know what? She brought salsa. And it was actually really good. We all played games and ate TONS of ice cream and pizza and just had an all-around great time. So what have I learned? Not to be so hard on everyone. And not to exclude kids to make other kids feel jealous. And that a party is WAY more fun if you’ve actually got guests. Now it really is a happy birthday to me! -Purr-Cilla
Purr-Cilla’s Worst Day
Dear Diary, You’ll never believe what happened today! My birthday party, the one that was supposed to be THE party of the year? Yeah. Not so much. All the kids from my school decided NOT to show up. Why? I think it’s because they’re jealous. Or maybe because Salley Cat turned them all against me. Sigh. Actually, the real reason is probably that they think I’m mean. And sometimes? I guess I probably am. But it’s not my fault! I just happen to be cooler than most of the kids in my school, and it’s hard to make friends with kids who are so…so…UN-cool. So the only two kids who showed up at my party were Penelope and Janice. My besties. And can you imagine how embarrassed I was when no one else was there? Can you imagine? I told them that I didn’t even care. I said the party was canceled. I heard them leave a few minutes ago, so I guess it’s really over. The birthday that never happened. Maybe if I’d been nicer to everyone, I’d be having the party of my dreams right now. Instead? I just feel really, really alone. Happy … Read more
Purr-cilla’s Party
Yikes. It’s Penelope here. You know, Purr-cilla’s friend, Penelope? Janice and I just left Purr-cilla’s party. She is not happy. We got there and she had all this food prepared and all these decorations up. She had gone all out because she said she wanted this to be the most awesome party every. Purr-cilla said that at soon as everyone got there, she was going to crank up the tunes so loud that the ‘Kinz could hear them all the way from the park and then they’d regret that they didn’t come to her party (the ones she invited, that is.) So we’re sitting there, waiting for the rest of the guests to arrive, and we just keep sitting and sitting and sitting. Purr-cilla kept checking the time on her phone, and after about an hour, I think it finally started to dawn on her that no one was coming to her party. She pretended that she didn’t care, but Janice and I could tell that she was really upset. So then Janice said that we meant to bring something but we had forgotten and we would be right back. Then she grabbed me and we ran out the door. … Read more
Purr-Cilla: Getting Prepared for the Party!
Dear Diary, I am super-stoked! Tomorrow is my birthday party – you know, the one that’s going to put all other parties to shame? That one! It’s SO exciting – knowing my friends are all going to be there, happy for me and bringing presents. Ooh, it’s going to be amazing! Now, there’s only one tiny thing…I heard through the grapevine that Sparky might not be able to make it. That’s less than awesome, but I’m hoping it’s just a rumor. After all, I don’t want his FRIENDS showing up if he doesn’t come. Ugh. If everyone I gave an invitation to comes, I should have a couple hundred kids at my party – which should be AMAZING! The trampoline has arrived, along with the juice bar, the ice cream truck and the loot bags I’ll be giving out (each one has a rare item in it! Beat that, other kids!). Oh, this just might be the best birthday I’ve ever had! – Purr-Cilla
Roberta and Molly Decide
It’s Molly! Roberta came up with this great idea for our moms’ Mother’s Day gifts! It’s something that I know my mother will really love and I can actually afford it! We are going to make coupon books that our mother’s can use for babysitting. I am going to offer my babysitting services for my little sister, Millie, and Roberta is going to babysit her little brother or sister after her mom has the baby. Isn’t that such a great idea? And even though it doesn’t cost me anything, dealing with Millie can be a pretty big sacrifice sometimes so I really am giving my mother something from the heart! Roberta is awesome! I’m so glad she’s my friend. She’s going to make a great big sister.
Roberta’s Boy Names
Ugh. So my list of girl names didn’t go over that well with my parents. I tried to be really creative, but apparently ‘creative’ wasn’t exactly what they were looking for. So now I’m working on some boys’ names for them and this time I think I really got it. I made them a list and they were actually more impressed this time around. Here’s what I had in mind: Randolf Richard Rudy Rex Ronnie And Reid My parents said that these were all pretty good names, but when they got to the end my mother stopped me and said “Reid? That’s cute.” My dad wasn’t quite so sure at first. He said it was kind of unusual, but my mom said he should think about it. She said it ‘had something.’ You mean they might actually take my advice this time? Wow!
A Letter for Nibbles
Dear Diary, Guess what? My parents are coming home soon! Within the next couple of weeks! They said that they’re going to work on projects here in Kinzville, and they’re going to move back home for good! I’m so excited! They’ve been working as scientists for the past several years, and I’ve only seen them a few times – but now, they’ll be home every single day! I guess I don’t have to worry about what will happen to me after Plumpy gets married – I’ll just live with my parents. How awesome is that? Love, Nibbles
