Molly’s Family Fun Time
The day has come. My family is here. All twenty-three of them. My aunt and her new baby are coming in a few days (they’re smart. If it was me, I’d show up on Christmas Eve and leave on Boxing Day). Then it will be twenty-five. Twenty-five relatives. In my house. Non-stop. As I suspected, Robby and Bobby (my twin cousins who are total pains) arrived with plans to make my life miserable. They hadn’t been there for more than ten minutes when they started sticking paper moustaches all over every single picture of me in the house. My little cousin threw up all over my mom’s rug. My aunt said he was still a bit carsick. My grandpa ate the chocolate bar I’d been saving. My grandma told me I’m slouching. My great-aunt pinched my cheek so hard it still hurts. Millie seems to be holding up better than I am. A lot of our relatives brought her little gifts. Did they bring me anything? No, because I’m the oldest. I have to be mature and set the example for everyone else. Sometimes I think it would be amazing to be … Read more
A Present for Uncle Arte
Hey, it’s Sparky. I got some good news and some bad news today, sorta. The good news is, I finally figured out what I am going to get my Uncle Arte for Christmas. Which is a huge relief, because I’ve really been struggling with it. I mean, what do you get a guy who has traveled the world, had exciting adventures and runs his own shop that sells some of the coolest stuff in Kinzville? Booger suggested a video game, but that’s not really Uncle Arte’s speed. And then Roberta said maybe I should make something, which wasn’t a bad idea, but I wasn’t really sure what I could make that he would want. I guess he must have noticed that I was feeling a bit stressed because he sat me down when I came into the Curio Shop the other day and asked what was bothering me. I know you shouldn’t talk about what gift you’re going to give someone, but I’ve never been able to lie to Uncle Arte so I just came out and told him the truth, that I really wanted to give him the perfect present but I didn’t know what that would be. … Read more
Roberta’s Handmade Holidays: Keychain
My dad is always losing his keys, so I figured I’d make him a keychain. His favorite colors are red, black and gray (or silver). So this is what I came up with! What You need: Keychain circle, yarn or string, needle big enough for yarn or string, beads in your recipient’s favorite color, scissors What you do: Tie a knot at one end of the string. String on several beads. Make an interesting pattern! Tie the other end of the string to the keychain. Make sure it’s securely attached! Snip off any extra string. I made two key chains – one for my dad’s car keys, and one for his house keys!
Sparky’s Test

Salley’s Good News
Well, if you hadn’t heard yet, let me be the first to tell you: Stoogles and I are BFFs again! He wrote me this really sweet apology letter, and I totally forgave him! We talked for a really long time and decided that after I get back from my dad’s, he and I will have a special pretend-Christmas. We’ll go sledding and decorate a gingerbread house – it’ll be amazing! I’m getting really excited to go and visit my dad. It’s going to be such a good time. I’m going to get to see my aunts and uncles and cousins on that side of the family – and my grandma, too! It’ll be a holiday to remember. And now that Stoogles and I are friends again, nothing will stand in the way of me having a merry Christmas!
Roberta is TIRED!
This just in: making Christmas presents is exhausting! I’m so tired, friends! What was I thinking? I’ve still got to make gifts for my neighbors, my teacher, Ms. Cowoline and my two boy cousins. What do you make for boy cousins!? I’ve only got 11 days left – 10, really, since I don’t want to be MAKING the gifts on Christmas day! And I still have to wrap everything…which I’ll probably do on Christmas Eve…so that’s, like, 9 days! I can’t believe I did this! Why didn’t I just ask for a loan and buy the gifts like everyone else does!!?
Fluffington’s Bathroom Makeover
Hi, it’s Elwin. Hailey and I have just finished working on Fluffington’s bathroom and he was not exaggerating when he said he liked gold. I think it’s pretty obvious from his bathroom that color really appeals to him. We realized that it’s important to Fluffington to maintain the grandeur of his rooms so we stuck with the blue and gold combo and just accented it with some new pieces. It is a bathroom after all so we didn’t want to go too wild with the decorations. We ended up using blue and silver decorations to set off what was already here. The Blue Frost Tree seemed perfect in the corner and the Festive Holiday Wreath uses the same color scheme. The Plush Rug carries the blue accents onto the floor and we replaced the furniture items with some pieces from the Wizard Theme. It’s a subtle transformation but something tells me Fluffington is going to like it.
Stoogles’ Apology
Dear Salley, I really miss being your friend. You were the best friend I ever had, and now that we’re not speaking or hanging out anymore – it’s awful. It’s so awful! I really miss going to your house, eating lunch together…and especially talking to each other during the ‘Kinz and Student Council meetings. I was really hurt when you said you were leaving Kinzville to spend Christmas with your dad. I want you to spend Christmas here with me! But after I talked to my mom and told her about the situation (she asked why you hadn’t been around lately, so I had to tell her), she pointed out that maybe I was being a little bit selfish. OK, maybe she said “Stoogles Googles, you march yourself over to Salley’s house with a great big chocolate apology cake and say you’re sorry! I’ve never heard of someone being so selfish!” So consider this letter my apology. It’s not as good as cake, but it would be hard to write all of this in icing. So…I’m sorry, Salley. I hope you can forgive me. I just want you to have an awesome Christmas, no matter where you spend it. … Read more
Molly and Millie Move Out
Okay, so far so good. Millie and I have just finished dragging our sleeping bags and pillows up to the treehouse. You know, there’s more space in here than I thought. With both of our beds set up there’s still a little room to move around. I’ve got a pile of books and some paper, and Millie even grabbed a small twig from the ground and she propped it up in the corner of the treehouse and decorated it with some tinsel and stuck a tin foil star on top. Millie is pretty happy – she’s got all her stuffed toys tucked into her sleeping bag right now – but she does keep asking me why we moved out again. I know she doesn’t really get it. Millie gets along really well with our cousins so she can’t figure out why I don’t want them all staying here this Christmas. But why would I want about a million little kids running around, drawing ugly pictures of me on my bedroom wall? Oh, Millie. Someday you’ll understand. Anyway, it’s really starting to shape up in – uh oh. I think that’s my mom calling … Read more
Roberta’s Handmade Holidays: Bear Puppet
Hey crafters! I’m feeling a lot better after talking to my friend Molly. I was asking her about what I could make for Millie (her little sister who happens to think I’m pretty awesome), and Molly thought it was really neat that I was making all my gifts this year. She said she wished she was as creative as I am! Talk about a boost to my crafty spirits! I feel much better. And what am I making for Millie? A bear puppet! (Millie is all about having an awesome imagination. She LOVES making up stories!). What you need: brown felt, scissors, pink fabric paint, black fabric paint, craft glue, wooden craft stick, different colors of felt What you do: Cut a bear shape out of your brown felt. The bear has to be small enough to fit onto your wooden craft stick. Cut out a muzzle for your bear. Glue it in place. Draw on a black nose and black eyes with the black fabric paint. Let the paint (and glue) dry. Cut out clothes to fit your bear. … Read more
Fluffington’s Apology
It is I, Fluffington. You know, I felt such a sense of peace the other day after I apologized to Hailey and Elwin. Not that I had really done anything WRONG of course, but I do realize that sometimes I should allow others to express their opinions as it seems to make them feel good about themselves, and I am all about giving to others. Give, give, give – sometimes I feel that’s all I do, readers. But it did get me thinking that perhaps I had been a bit hard on my old friend, Chef Gazpacho. I mean, he probably does know almost as much about fine dining as I do, what with him being a chef and all. So earlier today I stopped by Le Snout and told Chef Gazpacho that perhaps I had been a bit rash in questioning his choices and that if he would come back and cater my party I promised that I would keep my nose out of it. (After all, where was I going to find another caterer on such short notice at this time of year? Not that that was my only … Read more
A Surprising Apology
Hey, it’s Hailey. We just had a crazy visit from Fluffington. We were sitting in our office making up our budget for next year. After Fluffington freaked out about our yard design and we left the project, we realized we couldn’t count on the new clients we were hoping to get from the deal. But just as we were finishing up there was a knock at the door and when Elwin opened it, there was Fluffington and our friend, Henrietta Hippo. I guess Fluffington and Henrietta are friends too because she told us that he had something to say to us. Fluffington seemed really nervous, but then he said that he realized that as we were mere commoners like most of the rest of Kinzville, then we probably had a better understanding of what they would like at a party. Um, can you say backhanded compliment? He said he wanted to apologize for freaking out on us and that as he had given us creative control he couldn’t expect us to decorate the house as he would have done it himself, especially as there is no way we could have … Read more
Molly Visits Roberta
I went to visit my friend Roberta yesterday, and I have to say – I’m glad I did. Not only did I escape the insane clean-a-thon that’s happening at my house (in preparation for my relatives’ arrival), but I also managed to cheer Roberta up. When I arrived, Roberta was sitting in front of the TV, just looking really…well, kind of bored and angry. I’m not sure what emotion that is. But that’s definitely how she looked. Roberta told me that she had seen Cowabelle earlier, and when Cowabelle heard what Roberta was doing for Christmas (making all the gifts by hand), she told her that was a terrible idea, and that no one wants handmade gifts. I couldn’t believe Cowabelle! She was so mean to her best friend. I don’t think she realized how much she hurt Roberta’s feelings. I told Roberta that I’d be thrilled to get a gift from her, particularly one she made herself. Roberta was surprised. She said that after talking to Cowabelle, she figured everyone would dislike her homemade gifts. I assured her that we’d all love them. Roberta seemed much happier by the … Read more
Henrietta’s Visit with Fluffington
Oh, dear. What a day! I had to pay a visit to my old friend, Fluffington, today and not just for pleasantries. Fluffington is having a bit of a stressful holiday season this year. He decided that he would throw a huge Christmas party at his mansion. Which would have been perfectly fine – he did exactly the right thing, and instead of trying to take on too much himself, he hired others to help out. For instance, he asked Hailey and Elwin to help with his holiday decorating and he hired Chef Gazpacho to prepare some special foods. It all seemed well in hand. The problem is – Fluffington can be a bit of a control freak and he has very particular ideas about how he likes things done. And his ideas can be little bit, how shall we say, grand? I swear, I don’t think anything less than solid gold decorations and 100KC an ounce caviar would have pleased him. Of course, the designers and chef that he hired had different ideas, like creating a fun atmosphere that would be welcoming and appealing to everyone, not just Fluffington and his … Read more
Roberta Rabbit: SO Annoyed!
It seems sometimes you don’t really know who your friends are until you try to make them something for Christmas! I am extremely annoyed with Cowabelle right now. She was SO down on the fact that I’m making my gifts this year. What’s wrong with being crafty? Would she rather get something from the W Shop that ANYONE could buy? Well, actually, don’t answer that. I know the answer is yes. I just really wanted to make this year special, but I don’t feel very much like crafting today. Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow.
