A Present for Uncle Arte

Hey, it’s Sparky. I got some good news and some bad news today, sorta.

The good news is, I finally figured out what I am going to get my Uncle Arte for Christmas. Which is a huge relief, because I’ve really been struggling with it. I mean, what do you get a guy who has traveled the world, had exciting adventures and runs his own shop that sells some of the coolest stuff in Kinzville? Booger suggested a video game, but that’s not really Uncle Arte’s speed. And then Roberta said maybe I should make something, which wasn’t a bad idea, but I wasn’t really sure what I could make that he would want. I guess he must have noticed that I was feeling a bit stressed because he sat me down when I came into the Curio Shop the other day and asked what was bothering me. I know you shouldn’t talk about what gift you’re going to give someone, but I’ve never been able to lie to Uncle Arte so I just came out and told him the truth, that I really wanted to give him the perfect present but I didn’t know what that would be.

And then he gave me an idea. But that’s where the bad news comes in. Because Uncle Arte said that the single best gift he could get for Christmas this year is if I got an A on my geography test. I’ve been putting in a lot of hours at the Curio Shop and not really studying as much as I should lately and I know Uncle Arte’s been kind of disappointed in me. I really want to make him happy, but to be honest, I’ve been so tired from working in the shop, and busy thinking about Christmas, I’ve kind of been slacking off in class lately. So how am I going to turn it around in time to pull off an A on my test?  It’s in less than a week!

But you know what? I want to do this. I really want to give Uncle Arte the gift that he is wishing for and make him proud. I’m going to call my friend, Alex and ask him for help. All I can do is try, right?

you should take a couple study breaks while you work at the curio shop instead of waiting to get home and do it. just because you’re helping arte at the curio shop doesn’t mean you have to work the entire time. it’s always nice to take some time off and use it for the geography quiz. good luck!

    Hey Sparky,
I get straight A+s all the time for Geography. Not to brag or anything, but I love finding thing things on the map and learning about more places. So I guess you could say I get good marks since I find the subject fun to learn. Anyways, I’ll let you in on my secret of learning.
    1) Have an atlas always at hand. Once you know where a place is, it’ll be easier to learn about the place and people. For example, if a place is in the tropical zone, then you know that the place will usually be warm, wet and sunny. There is also the chance of the people eating lots of fruits and the main occupation there may be agriculture.

    2) Make flashcards. Flashcards are a great way to study, especially when you have a lot to to study. Make mneumonics too. Like, ‘My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Noodles’ for the Planets in the solar system.

    3) Don’t cram everything all at once. Prepare before, and on the day/week before the test, just revise everything.

    Ok?
    Best of luck,
    LLT

Sometimes studying is hard. Make a game out of it. You work in a curio shop so look around to see what articles come from what location on a map. Like a palm tree…what places in the world would you find one? Sand castles could be like for what places have beaches or sand, like the Sahara Desert, Florida has beaches and so on.
