Uh hi, it’s Alex Tiger. I’m feeling kind of overwhelmed. We’ve been talking an awful lot about Halloween at school and outside of school. In fact, it seems to be about all anyone can talk about right now. It’s just, well, I’m kind of embarrassed to admit this but… well, I don’t really like Halloween.
I like the candy part – that’s about the only part that makes it worth it. But I don’t like dressing up and I don’t like it when other people dress up in scary costumes. What’s so fun about being scared? I hate being scared. And when you go out on Halloween night, there are all these creepy looking costumes and you can’t tell who anybody is.
And the worst part – even worse than the costumes – is all the frightening decorations. There are skulls and ghosts and bats and creepy crawlies all over the place. And some of those Jack-o-lanterns have terrifying faces. I don’t see why people have to make them look so nasty. I don’t mind some of the funny ones.
I just don’t understand what is so great about this holiday. Why would anyone WANT to be scared? Can someone please explain it to me? I’m really not looking forward to it but I can’t say anything to my friends. I’m sure they’re just going to think I’m a big baby.
There is a really scary house in my area and my heart pounds when I go to it but the people who live there are very nice!
Really Alex? I like the dressing up part more than the candy! lol :) Oh and i really don’t like getting scared either. I’m like the only kid in my grade who won’t go to our neighboorhood’s haunted house!
Hi. My name is Baby Beary. I’m new in town. First of all, when you’re going trick or treating, just try to remember that all the scary decorations, and all the costumes, are just fake. Some people think that being scared is kind of fun. When people are talking about it, why don’t you walk away and do something else? What I like about it is I like walking around at night, and I like getting scared. For one thing, when I’m getting too scared, I just remember that most of the things are fake. Other people are walking around and getting scared. When somebody walks up to you and goes, ‘hi!’, you know it’s one of your friends and that you shouldn’t be afraid.
Hi um it’s LillyLuvie again and well i have something to admit, I’m not really popular in school I’m sort of a loser sorry to let my people down just i really am a geek!
*Luv from LillyLuvie*
halloween is just 1 out of all 365 days of the year. think of it as a 1/365 that you get scared a year, alex.
Don’t worry, Alex. Just dress as something not so scary like a clown (My teacher always dresses as a clown)
and wear a mask so you don’t see. That way, you won’t get freaked by the scary costumes.
Hope It Helps!
you see, alex, halloween is just allsaint’sday or something ghostly. all the scary parts came from an exageration(worst
speller in town) of the fact that the saint’s are ghosts now. ghosts go with goblins, which go with ogres, which go with
witches, and all the other scary stuff. don’t worry, alex. you’ll understand. and if your “so called friends” really are good friends, then, they’d never laugh at you.
ooohhh! alex tiger is such a uberbig baby!(singsongy)
It’s OK, Alex! Halloween obviously isn’t for everyone. Maybe you could dress up as something that isn’t really scary like a cute pumpkin or a super hero. But either way, you should be honest with your friends. They can probably help you if you tell them about how you feel about Halloween. You can’t really stop people from hanging scary or gross decorations. It’s how they like to decorate. But if you don’t want to do trick-or-treating, maybe you can sit inside and watch movies and buy candy from the store or something. Or maybe you can give candy out. Well, anyway, I hope you have a great Halloween whatever you do, Alex!
Hey Alex, just do the Scaredy Cat dance! :) You’ll feel better!
