Hailey and Elwin make over the Arcade Cafeteria

Hey, readers! It’s Hailey. My brother, Elwin and I have been tasked with another cool project, redecorating the Arcade Cafeteria. The Cafeteria is a great place to hang out when you’re visiting the arcade with friends, but it’s kind of a mish mash of furniture. They asked us to come in and try to give it a more fun and unified look. Elwin and I each did a design so let us know which one you prefer.             This is the original design. It’s okay, but I don’t really know whether it say ‘arcade’, you know? Also, there seem to be a lot of different styles of chairs and I’m not sure about those orange counters. They’re a bit glaring in this space. We want to create an area that is fun and welcoming where players can mingle while they enjoy their snacks.                     So this is Elwin’s design and I have to admit, it’s pretty awesome. He went with the Superhero wallpaper and the Superfan flooring. He added Concession Stand counters as well as a Professional Pizza Dispenser and Ice Cream Parlor Counter. Then he … Read more

Kinzville Academy Library Redesign

Hailey: Today’s room redesign was probably my favorite of all of them. I LOVE the library. Elwin: I do too. It’s such a great place to go! Hailey: This particular library was in the Kinzville Academy. That explains why it’s so…what’s the word, Elwin?                           Elwin: Juvenile. It was perfect for a kindergarten-aged kid…but what about the older students? They needed a much more grown up library. Those chairs were so tiny!   Hailey: Agreed! Here’s what we came up with.     Hailey’s Design:                         Hailey: Ah, serenity. I LOVE the quiet feel of this library. The white couches, the wicker chairs, the wood floors – so comfy, yet so mature. Both young and old students will enjoy this space. It’s perfect!     Elwin’s Design:                           Elwin: And here’s my design! OK, so I decided to go more imaginative with mine. Check out the suits of armor! The golden fireplace! The floating lamps! It’s such a cozy, friendly, cool place. Can’t you … Read more

The Kinzville Academy Office Redesign

Hailey: Hailey and Elwin here! Well, thanks for all your feedback about our rooms yesterday. Elwin and I are very excited to see who will ultimately win our design-off! Elwin: Definitely. Now today’s redesign was a bit of fun for both of us. We redid the Kinzville Academy’s office. The secretaries were very happy to see us and they didn’t even make us bring a note from home when we arrived late. Hailey: Uh, Elwin? We’re not in school anymore. Elwin: I know. But every time I go into the office, I always get nervous. Hailey: You did spend a lot of time there when we were kids. Elwin: Moving on! Here’s what the office used to look like:                     Hailey: Honestly? I thought it was cute. Outdated, but cute. Ah, Elwin! I see you took your usual spot outside of Ms. Cowoline’s office. Elwin: That was the exact same couch I used to sit on when I was a little guy. Hailey: Which means it’s time to get rid of it! Here are our designs.   Hailey’s Design:                       … Read more

The Employment Office Break Room Redesign

BreakRoom

Hailey: Hey all! Hailey and Elwin here with the first of our redecorating challenge articles. Elwin: That’s right, Hailey. All week we’ll be putting up our latest projects to see whose room designs Webkinz Newz readers like better. Hailey: The first room we tackled was the Employment Office Break Room.                     Elwin:  Can you say seventies shabby? That’s what I thought when I first saw it. Ugh. The room was just such a jumble of mismatched furniture. Hailey: Tabby told us that most of the furniture had come from secondhand stores, or from friends. She got it when she first opened the Employment Office, and she just hadn’t updated the room in years. Elwin: Enter the Designer Elephants! Hailey and each took a stab at creating the new and improved break room. Here’s what we came up with:   Hailey’s Design:                             I decided to create a serene, restful space for the employees. We’ve got a plush couch with a big screen TV, a dining area where they can eat lunch, a reading area for relaxing, and … Read more

Elwin vs. Hailey

Elwin

Hailey and I have been working a TON lately. We’ve been redoing lots of different places around Kinzville – and, unfortunately, we haven’t always agreed about which way to decorate a space. Although I love my sister, I definitely have a different sense of design. She tends to be very classic and simple, while I like to mix up crazier colors and patterns. Since we’re both SUPER competitive, we thought it would be fun to have a design contest. Each day for the next week, we’re going to redecorate a spot in Webkinz World. We’re going to show you the original, then both of our designs. We’d love it if you told us whose design you like better! At the end of the week, one of us is going to rule the design world!   So Hailey, bring your best designs – it’s game on!

Nibbles Finds a Dress

Hi! It’s me, Nibbles and today I had a pretty good day for a change. I went shopping again with Plumpy and I really wasn’t into the idea because even though I really like Charles, I just don’t know how my life is going to change when they get married and I guess I’ve been kind of down on the whole wedding thing. So we walked into ANOTHER wedding store and at first I thought ‘Same old, same old.’ But then I saw this really lovely pink dress. It was so lacey and puffy. I thought it was so pretty. I guess Plumpy could see that I actually kind of liked this one because she immediately encouraged me to try it on. Well, when I came out of the change room, I felt like a princess! It was so lovely I knew it was the one I wanted. I twirled around in front of the mirror. But then Plumpy looked at the price tag and I could tell by the shocked look on her face that it was more KinzCash than she could afford, so I told her ‘never mind’ and I turned to go … Read more

Coming Clean

Oh man. You know that crazy stone Stoogles gave me and how it’s been working so well at bringing me luck? Well, it turns out that all of my friends were just playing a trick on me. Do I ever feel stupid. How did I find out? Well, I went to school today and I was positive that I had my lucky stone in the pocket of my jeans. It was working like a charm – literally – because this morning I aced my spelling test (and spelling is not really my strong suit). Then when gym came around I was kind of dreading it because I was sure I would be picked last for hockey. But guess what? I was picked first! And it wasn’t even one of my friends who was choosing today! And to top it all off, I scored a goal! It was a thing of beauty. When I was changing out of my hockey gear, I patted the pocket of my jeans to make sure I had my stone, but it wasn’t there. At first I thought I must have dropped it somewhere but then I … Read more

Millie’s Birthday Party

Dear Diary,   Well, we had Millie’s birthday party today and I have to say: it went pretty well. Millie had fun (she said it was the best party she’d ever been to) and the other kids seemed to enjoy themselves. There were only a few minor incidents (of course).   The first one happened when I was wrapping Millie’s gift (a jewelry box). I was in a huge hurry (I had to help decorate and the kids were arriving in less than an hour)…and I dropped it. It fell to the floor and made kind of a ‘clunk’ noise. I didn’t think much of it, until I opened it and found the ballerina that was supposed to dance around lying on her side! I got out my craft glue and glued her back into place and hoped for the best. I finished wrapping in record time. The good news is that the glue had dried by the time Millie opened the gift – and the dancer still danced around. Whew.   The party started and everything was going well, until Millie started freaking out and saying that someone was … Read more
