Valentine’s Day Plans
Ella McWoof here, on a mission to find out what residents of Kinzville are planning to do for Valentine’s Day! Ms. Birdy: I’m planning on having dinner with my dear friend, Dr. Quack. We’re going to visit Le Snout and enjoy some of Chef Gazpacho’s tastiest morsels! Debbie Dragon: I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day, to be honest. I’m planning on staying home with a box of chocolates. I’m going to curl up on my couch and watch movies! Alex Tiger: Well, I was planning on going to the dance with a certain someone, but since that’s not going to happen…I’m just going to play video games at Sparky’s house. Molly Pig: I’m going to hang out with my friends. We’re going to do manicures and make sundaes. My little sister Millie told me that I have to bring her flowers, so I guess I’ll do that too. Sigh. And finally, someone who wanted to remain nameless. Mystery Valentine: My plan is a big one. I’m finally going to pop the question to a very special someone. I’ve got a dinner planned out, followed … Read more
Chef Gazpacho’s Valentine’s Cookies
Ms. Cowoline asked me to make something yummy for the kids to snack on during the dance. I’m sure they’re going to love this easy recipe! What you need: - 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour - 2/3 cup sugar - 1 teaspoon baking powder - ½ teaspoon salt - ¾ cup butter, softened - 2 Tablespoons milk - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract - 2 eggs - Heart shaped cookie cutter What you do: In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add butter, milk, vanilla and eggs, and mix at low speed until well blended. Refrigerate, covered, for two hours. Preheat oven to 350° and grease cookie sheet. Sprinkle flour on a clean, flat surface and roll out one half of dough to ¼” thick. With cookie cutters, cut out cookies and place them one inch apart on cookie sheet. Sprinkle lightly with sugar, and bake for 12 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely and repeat with remaining dough. These cookies are going to make the Kinzville Academy Valentine’s Dance extra sweet!
Salley does damage control
Oh, this day is NOT going well. I realized that I was going to have to try and put a leash on this monster of a party that Stoogles had set loose upon the world. I knew I’d have to be really diplomatic so I just went around and explained to everybody that had mentioned the party yesterday that I was just having a small get together with a few close girlfriends and that, while I would love to include them, it just wouldn’t work with my mom being out of the house and all. Maybe that was not the way to go. When I told Laurabeard, she looked really hurt and said that she thought she WAS one of my close girlfriends. How awkward was that? Then Sparky asked me if I thought girls were better than boys. Of course I don’t think that but when I told him that was a stupid question he said that now I was calling him stupid! What? Then Alex asked if I thought all boys were stupid or just Sparky and so I said just Sparky and Sparky freaked. But that wasn’t what I meant at all! … Read more

Salley and Stoogles disagree
Oh. My. Gosh. Stoogles is completely out of control! You know how my mom said I could have a few friends over on Valentine’s Day? And by ‘a few’, she specifically meant no more than four? Well, today when I was walking through the hall at school, I swear every other person who passed me said something like, “Hey Salley! Can’t wait for your party!” or “See you at your Valentine’s party!” It seemed like almost everyone at school thought they were coming to my place on Valentine’s Day for a party! How many guests did Stoogles invite? This is crazy! I finally tracked him down. He was standing in his classroom, surrounded by a group of about ten students, telling them all how awesome my Valentine’s Party was going to be! I dragged him out of there and told him that he was going to have to fix this mess he had created. He acted like he didn’t even know what I was talking about! He said he had really only invited a couple of friends. I told him that clearly was not true and do you know what he said … Read more
Alex’s Bad Day
Dear April, Today has not been the best day of my life. I was walking home from Sparky’s when I ran into Molly, who was walking home from Cowabelle’s. I said hi, and then she said, “Alex, we have to talk.” I wasn’t sure what we had to talk about, but we sat down on a bench and she said, “Alex, I like you.” And I couldn’t believe it! I was just about to say “I like you too, and I bought you those presents at Christmastime!” when she said, “As a friend. Just a friend.” And then I didn’t know what to say. She kept talking. “Roberta told me you were going to give me chocolates on Valentine’s Day, but I really don’t think you should. We’re just friends, and I’d like to keep it that way, at least for now. We’re young, we’ve got years ahead of us…” And I just nodded. She stuck out her hoof and I shook it. “Still pals?” she asked. And I just nodded again. She smiled and walked off. And me? I just sat there for awhile. But then, after realizing how cold I was, I … Read more
Molly Pig: Mortified
You’ll never believe what happened to me today. I was at Cowabelle’s house, working on a geography project with Cowabelle and Roberta. We were looking up facts about Kinzville, when all of a sudden Roberta asked this really random question. “What would you do if a boy liked you?” Cowabelle giggled, and then they got into this long conversation about which boys they like at school and which TV star is cutest and stuff like that. But me? I didn’t know what to say. I’ve never really thought about it, to be honest. When I didn’t answer, Roberta said, “What if a boy liked YOU, Molly?”And I said, “That would be OK, I guess.”And then Cowabelle started to laugh and she said, “Just tell her!”And I said, “Tell me what?”And they laughed some more and then guess what Roberta finally said? She found out that Alex Tiger likes me. AND he bought me chocolates for Valentine’s Day! Alex. Alex Tiger! My friend! I couldn’t believe it. I told her she must have her facts wrong, but she assured me that she was right. I quickly changed the subject and suggested that we get a snack. Roberta and Cowabelle didn’t … Read more
Roberta’s Valentine Craft: Candy Calculator
Another wonderful craft to add to the bag of Valentine’s treats for my class! What you need: Cardstock, scissors, candy dots, double-sided tape, marker, printer paper , glue stick What you do: Measure the cardstock, and mark it so you can cut it into four equal rectangles. Cut along the lines you marked. You now have four ‘calculators’. Cut out small white rectangles from the printer paper. At the top of each calculator, glue a small white rectangle for a screen. Write a Valentine’s message like “You’re #1” or “U R GR-8!” or “U R 2 Cool!” Cut your candy buttons into squares of twelve (3 candies in 4 rows). On the bottom of the calculator, use double-sided tape to secure the paper the candies are on. Decorate the calculator with fun stickers.
Roberta’s Conundrum
Roberta here, with a bit of a conundrum. See, I was at my locker after school and I kind of overheard something that I wasn’t supposed to overhear. Alex was talking to Sparky about a girl he likes. He was saying how worried he was about what to get for that certain special someone for Valentine’s Day. Alex mentioned a box of chocolates (which I think is PERFECT for anyone, really), but Sparky was saying that maybe he should get this girl a pack of baseball cards and some gum. I wasn’t sure which girl they were talking about, so I thought maybe it was someone who liked sports (and gum). But then Alex said, “I don’t know if Molly would like that!” And I couldn’t help myself, I had to interject. “No!” I said. “Alex, go with the chocolates. Molly doesn’t even like baseball.” Whoops. Alex turned BRIGHT red, and Sparky didn’t look too pleased. Well, it’s not my fault! They were talking, and I could hear them. I’m a rabbit! I have good ears! Anyway, Alex said something quickly about going with the chocolates and then ran off. Sparky said, … Read more
Plumpy’s Valentine
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I can’t help but think about my Valentine…Sir Charles Rhineholt. Charles is Webkinz World’s foremost historian. He travels, he writes, he gives lectures…basically, he knows all there is to know about the history of Webkinz World. I’m so proud of the things he’s discovered and written about, but it’s too bad that he has to travel so much – I really miss him when he’s not around. We email every day, and I talk to him on the phone a few times a week – but it’s not the same. He spent Christmas with my family, and it was just wonderful. But then, as always, I had to take him to the airport so he could head off on another speaking tour. He said he won’t be home until March, so I’ve got a whole month of emailing and phoning ahead of me. I guess I’ll have to spend Valentine’s Day with my best friend, Wiggles. Not exactly what I had in mind, but I suppose we’ll get some chocolate and watch some silly movies. Maybe Nibbles will join us when she gets back from her little party at Salley’s place. How … Read more
Alex’s Crush
Hey all, So as you know, I gave Molly a Christmas gift. What you DON’T know is that I never, ever told her it was from me. I just…chickened out, I guess. I’m worried that she won’t be very happy when she finds out that I gave her the gift. Anyway, Valentine’s Day is coming up and I already know what I’m going to get her – a box of chocolates! She LOVES chocolate, and I found the perfect box at the W Shop. I’m going to go pick it up next week. And I’m going to tell her it’s from me – but I’m going to do it in a clever way. I’m going to take all the chocolates out of the box and write a code on the bottom. I’ll put the chocolates back into the box and, as she eats them, she’ll see the code underneath! Then she’ll break it and figure out it’s me! Isn’t that clever? And if she can’t figure out the code, I’m off the hook. She doesn’t find out it’s me, and I can stop panicking every time I see her in … Read more
Roberta’s Craft: Wrapped Valentine Candy Bars
I’m going to take a page out of my friend Alex Tiger’s crafty book and make up some delicious Valentine’s Day Candy Bars. These are super-easy to make, and totally fun to give (and get!). What you need:Miniature chocolate bars (or, if you’re feeling REALLY generous, full-sized ones), construction paper, glue stick, scissors, glitter or stickers What you do: Create a wrapper for each candy bar. You can do this by measuring the bar and cutting paper that will fit around it. Decorate that paper with different colored hearts or a label. Try using colors that look good together – and are ones that you’d see on Valentine’s Day. Using your glue stick, attach the label or hearts. Add stickers or glitter to your wrapper. Write on any messages that you’d like to share. Wrap the wrapper around the chocolate bar and secure it with glue. Give one out to all your friends this Valentine’s Day.
Roberta’s Valentine: Sweet Butterfly
Roberta here with another fun Valentine’s Day craft! The big day is less than a month away, so I’m getting SUPER excited. Today’s craft is very easy – but totally cute! Cut out two hearts from the construction paper. Stick them on your wrapped piece of gum, securing them in place with stickers. 2. Add stick-on wiggle eyes or other stickers as eyes. 3. Decorate the wings with markers and stickers. Write your friend’s name on the back of the wing. 4. Pass these out to your friends on Valentine’s Day – they’ll LOVE them!
