Behind the Scenes: Music Starz Storyboard!

Before an animator created one of the music videos that you can watch in the Music Starz section of Webkinz, an artist first created a storyboard for the video. A storyboard is a series of drawings that are used to show the sequence of scenes planned for a video. This gives the animator a visual script to work from when creating the actual video.

Take a look at some of the panels from the “It’s A Beautiful Day” storyboard compared to actual frames from the music video. In this video, a Webkinz Rooster and Chicken try to wake up their little chick:

I heard that the songs were created by the employee’s that work at Ganz, is that true?

I loved these videos back when they were still being made in 2010 (and some of them are still rather catchy now)! As an aspiring animator, it’s always interesting to look at these storyboards! My favourite of the Music Starz videos is Nine lives… It always makes me cry…

Oh my, I really enjoyed this feature. As a mom it made me laugh as I remembered the difficulty I had waking my son up for school and work. I would pull all the covers off his bed to finally get him up and moving. As an amateur artist I really enjoyed seeing how these videos come to life. My favorite video is “Nine Lives”. I’ve watched it and sang along with my grandchildren and it has become a favorite of theirs also. I would really enjoy seeing the art behind the “Nine Lives” video. Thank you for this feature!

I love all the videos, especially when the pets dance. It’s so neat to see how things look before they become “the real official thing” :D So much work! I can see a great contest (or 20…) for us – coloring in a storyboard drawing from one of the wonderful videos. Who decided we can’t have checkered chickens? Hmmmm…….

Cool, umm… are you guy planning on making more videos like this– I love these Pet of the Month videos and it’s been so long sense we’ve seen videos like these, same goes for the crafts… please either Micheal or Sally Webkinz answer my questions– I mean what you all have in your archive is great. I’m just wondering if there’s ever going to be some new stuff added to make it fresh and new for older players. And maybe you can also add the host Dragon back in– you know the one who used to work at the Travel Agency, and can you also add the Crafty Critterz section back onto the Webkinz site… I mean I know it’s on Webkinz Newz now but isn’t it possible to have it both places?
