Important Update!

As part of an upcoming General Data Protection Regulation that was recently passed by the European Union, we have added a way for our players to easily delete their Webkinz accounts. This was added to ensure the privacy of our players and to continue our commitment to provide a safe and secure place to play online. Note that once an account has been deleted, it will be permanent deleted and players will not have the option to recover any items, pets or currency associated to their account.

To delete your Webkinz account please complete the following steps:

  1. Log into your Webkinz account at Webkinz.com or from the Webkinz mobile app.
  2. Access the Options menu in the top right of the interface, or from the THINGS TO DO menu on the mobile app
  3. Click on the Delete Account option.
  4. You will be prompted to re-enter your password to confirm your decision
  5. You will be given one last chance to cancel or confirm your decision
  6. Once confirmed, you will be logged out and your account will be deleted.

Again, this decision is permanent and cannot be reversed once completed.

Thanks.

We still need the ability to transfer pets and deleting rooms, it is much more important than being able to delete our accounts. Many people have faced more rooms added onto their house, wrong placement of rooms, etc and it has caused issues with our overall home experience. Not to mention adding pets to the wrong account or not wanting certain pets on an account anymore.

This way makes it way to easy to delete your account. i mean, it right there!!! what if someone does it by accident? there should be more steps to this. what we all really need, and i think i speak for everyone, is to be able to delete unwanted rooms in our house! …..and idk about anyone else, but i would like to be able to delete unwanted pets, like multiples, off our accounts maybe.

Can’t you just have some kind of user agreement that people have to agree too? It seems like that’s what all the other companies are doing. They don’t seem to be changing things just making you more aware of what their user agreement is and making you click that you agree that you’re ok with it. It seems ridiculous that the whole world should have to bend to the EU and THEIR laws. Legally there must be a way around this.

This procedure seems way to easy to do by mistake, by someone else, or even by a younger kid. I feel there should be more steps such as an email (click this link) to verify the deletion or some such thing.

I know I’m late to the party on this one, but I agree with the majority of the comments here. While I don’t think hackers is a huge issue (even though yes, sadly, some people would find joy in hacking a child’s beloved Webkinz account), I imagine that by now, Ganz has up-to-date secure servers and encryption. While that still doesn’t make it impossible for someone to hack (people can hack pretty much anything), the chance of doing so is quite low, especially if they’re just seeking random accounts to troll, as that would be a lot of time and possibly even a bit of money to find a random account, hack the password, and then delete the account. Unless a good hacker has a personal vendetta against the Webkinz account holder and feels really petty, the risk is extremely minimal. Now, I do hope that clears up some stuff for anyone that’s been paranoid. As for young children deleting their accounts accidentally, well, yes, that’s a very real risk. Especially for those that can’t read yet and still know their passwords. They might not understand the consequences of their actions, leading to the accidental deletion of an account. Or, given that young children don’t always follow the rules perfectly, they may give out their password to a friend. They end up getting in a fight with that friend, and out of malice, their friend deletes the account. The same could happen between siblings using a shared account, the younger sibling gets mad at the older one and deletes the account, not fully understanding their actions. Seeing as Ganz said they cannot send a confirmation email, I wonder if the same goes for sending a text message or confirmation to the Parent’s Area? Now, as for the recovery option, Ganz might not be legally allowed to do that, as that would require them to store the data after the account holder has requested deletion. It’s a tricky situation, and while Ganz must comply with the law, a few other things are put at risk by doing so. Anyway, just my opinion!

How can you recover your pets before deleting an account? Taking them and adding them to another acct?

Why can’t you add another option “Never Delete Account” for those of us who would never do such a thing? Then, we wouldn’t have to worry about this.

Hmm…yikes…another reason to protect your password and change it from time to time! Which reminds me, when did I last change my password? Lol.

It would also be nice if you could transfer your account to someone else.

That is the best idea yet. I have an account which I am dropping at the end of the month and I really hate to lose the pets.

      • RoseLilKinz says:

It is possible, but not a true transfer, exactly. You’d have to give someone else the password, username, and all the codes associated with that account. However, this makes the whole thing more vulnerable to hackers, as there’s a much bigger payout to hacking a Webkinz account that you can send to yourself than there is if you’re just hacking the account to delete it or steal items off it. Btw, penguin5, are you deleting the account or giving it away?

I think you can transfer accounts if you give them the password and change the “parent” email to theirs.
