Webkinz Desktop App is Available Now!

Back in March we announced the development of our browser-free, full-screen Desktop App for Windows. Well, the wait is over and the application is ready to download today!

Click here to get Webkinz Desktop App for Windows.

Once the download completes, run the installer and you’ll get the new app with an icon on your desktop. Our app automatically updates itself, so you’ll always have the latest and greatest version – no more downloads needed!

Again, this version is for Windows computers only, but we’re happy to announce that the Mac version is going very well and we expect it to be in release state much sooner than first planned! Stay tuned. Also, as a reminder, this application does require the Flash player to remain on your computer, but if you’re playing Webkinz on your PC now, you already have Flash and nothing needs to change.

Finally we’d like to put out a special thanks to all of the Webkinz players who helped us beta test our Desktop App. With your input we’ve created the best, most secure way to play Webkinz ever!

Have fun and let us know below what you think of the new app! We love reading your feedback.

So far the app is great. Works the same as through the web. I wish there was a minimize button to see what is on my desktop, not just on my start/app page (maybe you already have that planned as an update for the future). Magic Mire Series 2 actually loads right away which is awesome!

It’s interesting, although I think something I’ll run in a virtual machine after I get a Windows one running just because Flash’s lack of security updates soon. The fullscreen looks nice, although my problem is with my large display, it just sits in the middle of the screen in a 1080p borderless window that I can’t move off to the side. It would be perfect for watching videos/movies while I play like I normally do, but with it stuck in the middle of my screen, that’s not really happening.

This is a sad reminder to me that my days of playing Webkinz will be coming to an end because this doesn’t help my situation. I am not able to get a computer or an internet provider at this time or for any time in the foreseen future. Because I have to use the computer at my local public library, I can not down load any apps and this ability is disabled for the computers at the public libraries in our city. Webkinz has been my stress release, virtual vacation retreat after a long hard day at work. I honestly don’t know what to do. ♪♫LadyBeauty♪♫

It looks pretty cool! I don’t know if it was just my computer, but kept kicking me of. However, I think some things could be a little bigger (like the Curio Shop, Wish Factory, etc.) because it looks like it does online, just with an extremely large border around it, which makes it look a lot smaller than it really is. It just seems odd to have all that space and not be able to use it. And things like Today’s Activities aren’t on its own page, it just kind of covers up your room, almost like an ad. I guess what I’m trying to say is that some things need to be larger to fill in all that space. I’m sure it’ll take some time to adjust things to fit the larger screen, but it’s looking great so far. Keep up the great work! :)

It’s only for Windows 7 and up, so I guess come 2020, no more Webkinz for me. This is devastating news. :( I’m not sure if I should bother using the deluxe membership I just bought when mine runs out next month or not. On one hand I already paid for it, on the other hand it seems like a waist of money for a game I won’t be able to play anymore. Though if I don’t us it, I don’t think I can get a refund for it.

    • Sally Webkinz says:

From what I’ve seen, Chrome and Firefox will only be discontinuing support at the end of 2020. So you’d get at least another year’s worth of play, potentially 18 months.

    • RubyCubes says:

Same here, Demongirl10. I’ve been playing webkinz for 12 years. It has been a good run. Desktop applications are outdated. Everything is moving to mobile devises and cloud-based apps. My current employer and my previous employer have abandoned Windows and converted entirely to Google. Instead of moving forward, Webkinz has chosen to stick with old technology. My laptop has an older version of Windows, but we hardly use it anyway. We use Chromebooks and Ipads. So I’ll finish out my current Deluxe membership, but that will be it for me. And since I found out that Webkinz won’t support any Google apps or older versions of Windows, I’ve quit spending money in the Estore. I’m slowly saying goodbye to awesome era of Webkinz. :(

  7. hdresden says:

Sally, this isn’t working for me. It says I have to download Flash player for it to work. I have Flash player downloaded and I installed it. Is there a special Flash player you need to have?

    • Sally Webkinz says:

Yes, it has to be the system-based Flash player, not the browser one. If you follow the prompts and install Flash, it should work.

      • hdresden says:

Sally, I apologize. I went to the usual place where I get my Flash updates for my browser. This is evidently a different Flash player made for Windows. Followed the link and everything worked perfectly. Thanks!

      • tinygma says:

I used “Ninite” it updates Java and flash for me . it sits as an app on my screen so I can update java every few months in minutes. Oh I wish you well in getting this right . Its so frustrateing at least we get to try and do this early . Webkinz when done site like AMAZING WORLD in its own window I hope this helps you.

  8. nettne2 says:

I was worried at first , bit it installed quickly and works really well. my only issue is not being able to access anything else on my computer while playing the game, but im sure it wont take any time to get used to.

  9. RockRfox says:

I really like how all my rooms look in full screen! You can see so much more detail! I’m a little worried about the ease of switching back and forth of floaty clickies, but I think overall I will like the desktop app.

  10. rsprang says:

very impressed with how easy and smooth this was. usually it’s a nightmare for me …great job Ganz
