School President Speeches: Cowabelle
Hello. I am Cowabelle Cowoline and I hope you will consider me for President of Kinzville Academy School Council. Ever since I was a little kid, I have helped my mother at Kinzville Academy. Whether it’s getting the classes ready in the summer, or organizing parent/teacher evenings or helping to build sets and make costumes for school plays, I understand the inner workings of a school and I can bring that knowledge to the table when it comes to planning school council events. Besides helping my mother with the running of the school, I have also been very involved with the school in my own right. I take part in the school plays, I volunteer for school events and I am a very dedicated, driven student, always striving for excellence. I have a great attendance record, and I also like to take part in extra-curricular activities and team sports. If you want a candidate who knows how Kinzville Academy really works, and who takes an active role in the school, then I am the one you should vote for.
Ms. Stripes’ Bathroom
Ms. Stripes said that for her smallest room, she wanted to get a lot of kick for her KinzCash. She asked us to create a glamorous bathroom where she could get ready to face the day. She figured that by creating an environment that felt extra-special, she would walk out the door feeling great every morning. That is the kind of assignment my brother and I adore! We went with the Beach House Wallpaper and Campkinz Cabin flooring. You may think Cabin Flooring doesn’t sound very glam, but look how well it goes with the decadent bath we installed, the Internal Reflections Pond. That was our big focal point. Then we added some pieces from the Mega Modern theme. We knew that we had to finish off with a couple of real statement pieces and that is where the Wondrous Wall Chandeliers and the Hippo on a Half Shell painting came in. Roberta and Booger: At Odds
Oh, wow. I think Booger is turning into a control freak! He just came to me and said that I have to redo my yearbook page on the girls’ soccer team. That is so unfair! I did a really cool page! I brought in my own scrapbooking supplies from home and I used lots of ribbons and stickers and cute stamps. You should have seen how awesome it was. Then Booger looks at it and says that it doesn’t fit with his theme, ‘Anatomy of an Academy’. Well, I think that’s a stupid theme anyway so why should I have to do my pages in his silly format? I think flowers and bows are much prettier for the girls’ soccer team, right? I told him that I wasn’t going to do redo it and you know what he said? He said he would just have to do it himself then! I said I wasn’t going to let him touch my page and so I packed it into my binder and took it home. I know he can just print off the pictures again and do it himself anyway, but it was the principle. Polly Panda: President?
Guess what? I made a big decision. I watched Salley and Stoogles and even Purr-Cilla accomplish so much in school council last year and now Cowabelle is running for president, and she seems to be involved in everything. So I’m thinking maybe it’s time for me to step and try to get more involved at school and I figured, if I’m going to do it, I might as well do it all the way. My sister Amanda always says, “Go bold or go home.” So I decided that I am going to run for School President this year! I’m kind of nervous about it. It’s a pretty big deal, putting yourself out there in front of everyone. And what if I actually won? There is a lot of responsibility that comes with a role like that. But you know what? If we let our fears hold us back we would never do anything. I will never know if I can do this unless I actually try. And I think that I would make a good president. Ms. Stripes’ Kitchen
I must say, this project for Ms. Stripes is going really well. Elwin and I are just loving getting back into our old pattern of working together, and we’ve found her so easy-going as a client. It’s really starting to make me wonder what is going on at school because I talked to Nibbles again the other day and she is still so down on Ms. Stripes. Elwin and I have been talking and we’re thinking that somehow we have to get to the bottom of this. Anyway, on to the fun stuff! Ms. Stripes says she loves to cook and entertain. The thing is, she has a dining room so she said that even though she wanted an eat-in kitchen, she wasn’t looking for anything overly formal. She said a casual space where she could hang out and enjoy coffee with her friends (funny, Sparky SWEARS that it is absolutely inconceivable that Ms. Stripes has any friends), but with plenty of workspace for experimenting with new recipes. Ms. Stripes’ Bedroom
Another assignment from the new teacher in town and another day we’re left scratching our heads at why the kids seem to think she’s so mean. Ms. Stripes gave us carte blanche to do her bedroom but she said that she found the color green to be really calming. She also said that she’s always dreamed of having a fireplace in her bedroom. We went for a few items from the Green Leaf theme and combined them the Bamboo bed. We added a Flower Power Sectional in one corner and we fulfilled Ms. Stripes wish for a fireplace with a Clean and Green Fireplace in another corner as well as a big closet for all her clothes. Again, she just loved our work! We were so relieved. I can’t understand how the kids think she’s so negative. We seem to get nothing but positive feedback from her.
Ms. Stripes’ New Living Room
Well, Elwin and I were a bit nervous about our first room design for Ms. Stripes. We haven’t exactly heard the best things about her from the ‘Kinz. We started with the Living Room and Ms. Stripes said that she really liked soft colors so we decided to go with the Green Leaf Wallpaper. Once we put it up we realized that it would go really nicely with some of the new pieces from the Beach House theme so we used the Weathered Wood End Tables and Coffee Table. We added two white sofas and a pair of Wicker Chairs then we tied in the blues with the soft aqua Plush Rug and as an accent chair, the Trading Card Condo Lounger. We made a workspace in the corner with a Navigator’s Desk and a stately Unbirthday Party chair which picked up the same shade of blue. When it came time to show Ms. Stripes the end result we were so scared she wouldn’t like it after all the negative stuff we’ve heard about her, but it turned out that she loved it. Roberta, the Better Editor?
Okay, to take my mind off of my ultra-strict new teacher I decided I wanted to get involved with one of the extracurricular projects at school this year and I thought that the yearbook committee might be the thing for me. You know how much I love crafting, right? I was hoping that I could get on the art team for the yearbook and help lay it out, and choose pictures and images. The only thing is that Booger is the editor this year and he’s got some pretty weird ideas. The theme that Booger wants to go with is ‘Anatomy of an Academy.’ What??? He says that he wants to do a section on each program in the school, like math, and science and history. He says that we can lay it out like a science lesson and have lots illustrations and pictures for each section, with labels like in a scientific diagram. But who is going to want to read an anatomy of anything? You know it’s just because Booger is into all that science stuff that he thinks that’s a good idea. She’s Back!
Wow! I am so glad that it’s the new school year because I tell you – I was getting sick of playing second banana to Salley last year. But this year things are going to be different because I am running for School Council President again and this year I intend to win. Apparently Cowabelle is running this year, which isn’t really fair because she’s the principal’s daughter. I mean, is she really going to stand up for the student body and get things done or is she just going to do what Mommy says? And who’s to say that when Ms. Cowoline is counting the votes that a few of the ballots for me don’t get ‘lost’, if you know what I mean. I actually don’t mind Cowabelle. She’s a lot better than some of the other ‘Kinz but if this school wants a President with some executive experience who isn’t in the Principal’s back pocket then I think I’m the obvious choice.
Nibbles in the Middle
It’s Laurabeard here. I was hoping this school year was going to get better, but instead it seems to be getting worse. The other day I went over to Nibbles’ locker to show her my new pencil case and Janice was standing there with her. My brother bought me this cool, retro Monkey & Monkey pencil case. It’s from this vintage shop he found on his travels and I thought it was really neat. But Janice said “That’s weird. Who would want someone’s old pencil case? Why didn’t he just buy you a new one?” I told Janice that was really rude and maybe she should go find Purr-Cilla and leave us alone. Janice said to chill out – that she didn’t mean anything by it. Then she said who was I to tell her what to do – she and Nibbles were hanging out first and maybe I should mind my own business. I told her Nibbles and I had been friends, like, forever and then Janice said didn’t I take off on Nibbles last year and go away just when she really needed a friend because Plumpy was getting married? School Play Auditions & Casting!
Hello everyone, Ms. Cowoline here with some exciting news: I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve decided on this year’s play! We’re going to perform The Three Musketeers, so get ready for some swashbuckling action and daring drama. Here are our casting choices: Playing the dashing hero D’Artagnan will be Alex Tiger. Playing the part of Athos, the brave and wise Musketeer, will be Sparky Fact. Playing the part of the jolly Musketeer, Porthos, will be Molly Pig. Playing the part of the quick and daring Musketeer Aramis will be Salley Cat. Playing the part of the evil Milady de Winter will be Purr-cilla. Laurabeard’s Lunch
It’s my first week back at Kinzville Academy since I went away on my brother’s ship last year, and I have to say – it’s kind of weird getting back into things. Sometimes it feels like everyone else just carried along without me and forgot about me. The thing is, before I went away, Nibbles and I would always eat lunch together. Like, every single day. On the first day of school a whole bunch of us sat together, but I came into the lunchroom a little late yesterday and went to find Nibbles and she said sorry but she told Janice that she would sit with her today. Huh? Since when do Nibbles and Janice sit together? Janice is one of Purr-Cilla’s friends. Nibbles said I could join them if I wanted but I didn’t want to because there was only one seat by Janice and I don’t really know her anyway. Plus, if she’s anything like Purr-Cilla I’m not sure I want to know her. I went outside and ate my lunch by myself under a tree. I wonder if it’s going to be like this every day. I sure hope not.
