The School Council Makes Plans
School Council Minutes Taken by: Stoogles In Attendance: Salley, Purr-Cilla, Stoogles Today’s meeting was attended by the entire school council. We met to discuss planning the Fall Fair. Big shocker – Purr-cilla and Salley disagreed about how to arrange the attractions. Salley wanted to have the rides together in one area and the games in another. Purr-cilla didn’t like this idea. She said that everything should be scattered all over the place. She thought it would make it more interesting. Salley said that it would just be confusing to mix everything up, and if there were games and rides mixed up together, the ‘Kinz might miss something. Salley thought it would be easier for ‘Kinz to plan out their day if they knew they could find all the rides in one spot and all the games in the other. Also, we wanted it to be fast and simple when the Rental Place dropped off all the rides. If they had to be hauling them all over the schoolyard, it would just mean more time on set up and less time for fun! We were paying by the hour after all. When I said I … Read more
Roberta’s Cupcakes

For my cupcake contest entry I’m using my old standby recipe that I used for the bake sale in September. These cupcakes are my favorite! What you need: - One package yellow cake mix - Eggs/Oil/Milk (as per cake mix instructions) - One package brownie mix - Eggs/Oil/Milk (see above!) - Small tube yellow icing - Small tube red icing - Small tube green gel icing - Sesame seeds - An adult assistant to help you with this recipe What you do: Have your adult assistant help you make yellow cupcakes according to directions on package. Have your adult assistant help you make brownies according to direction on package. Bake in 9×13” pan so that brownies are not too thick. Use a drinking glass approximately the same size as your cupcakes to cut out 12 circles from your brownies. These are your ‘hamburger patties’. Cut your cupcakes in half horizontally. These are your ‘hamburger buns’. On the bottom half of each cupcake, place a brownie patty. Using yellow, red and green icing, top the brownie patty with ‘mustard, ketchup and relish’. Set the cupcake tops on top of the brownie patties and … Read more
Target Game
Sparky here with a great game idea! This is practically perfect for everyone! What you need: Large sheet of paper, paint, beanbags, prizes What you do: There are lots of different ways to design your target! You can: Paint a large circle, then a smaller circle in it, then smaller until you reach the middle. Each circle has a value. Where the user tosses their beanbag will determine what they win. Paint a grid. In each square, write the name of a prize. Whichever square the player’s beanbag lands on determines their prize. Paint small circles all over the large paper. Whichever circle the player’s beanbag lands on determines their prize. The game is really easy to play – just toss the beanbag onto the target and see what prize you win!
Purr-Cilla’s Craft

PJ Collie was telling me about these amazing corsages and I figured I could make them myself. Check them out! What you need: Circle of felt (about five inches across), scissors, fabric glue, pencil, pin backing What you do: Starting at the outside edge, draw a spiral on the circle of felt. Cut along the spiral. 3. Starting in the middle, roll the felt up to make a rose, gluing the fabric as you roll. See? Like this. Now roll it up from the middle! 4. Make sure to glue the end of the felt and hold it in place until it dries a little bit. 5. Glue the finished roses onto your pin backing. Leave them to dry. You can cut out a couple of leaves and glue those on before you glue on your roses, if you like. 6. Display your finished rose corsages on pieces of cardstock. You can even get extra crafty like me and come up with a company name. I think I’m going to go with Purr-Cilla’s Purr-Fect Creations. Nice, right?

Salley’s Craft

Hi everyone! I came up with a really neat craft to make for the Fall Fair. Check out these beautiful barrettes! What you need:Bobby pins, beads with large holes, rectangle of cardstock What you do: Choose what kind of bead you’d like to put on your barrettes. You can make matching ones or complimentary ones (for example, you could make a bee and a flower). Slide your beads all the way to the end of your bobby pin. The pin should still close properly (the bead shouldn’t make it stay open – if it does, you need thinner beads). When your barrettes are done, put them onto the cardstock. This allows for them to be displayed nicely!
Purr-cilla’s impressed
Purr-cilla here. Okay, so it appears Salley isn’t always as lame as she seems (although most of the time she is.) She and that joke of a vice-president of hers went around town to try and round up donations for prizes for the fall fair, and they actually got a pretty decent haul. When I walked into the council lounge (which, by the way, is totally overcrowded ever since Salley won the election and opened it up to everybody. Um, hello? What’s the point of even being in council if you’re not going to have your own elite lounge that keeps everybody else out?) I was shocked to see how many prizes they actually got. I guess a lot of the residents of Kinzville actually came through with some prizes. But I guess it’s hardly surprising – did you see my poster? It was pretty awesome. I’m sure everybody was practically falling all over themselves to donate after they caught sight of it. Oh, and don’t try to pretend you didn’t like my poster. I know a bunch of you said it was the best. Obviously – what did you expect? I mean, … Read more
