Roberta’s Homemade Holiday: Raccoon Puppet

Here is a simple hand puppet craft that little kids will really appreciate. I’m making mine for my little cousin! What you need: -          Brown paper bag -          Black construction paper -          Brown construction paper -          Googly eyes -          Black crayon -          Glue -          Scissors What you do: Flip a paper bag upside down. The flap formed by the bottom of the bag will be your raccoon’s face. Fold over a piece of brown construction paper and cut out two semi-circles, about 2” across. Fold over a piece of black construction paper and cut out two smaller semi-circles, about 1” across. Glue the black semi-circles inside the brown ones and glue them along the top of the flap at the bottom of your paper bag to form your raccoon’s ears. Fold over a piece of black construction paper and cut out a black rectangle, about 2.5” long. With scissors, round off the corners of one side of the rectangles. Glue the two rectangles on either side of the bottom of the bag, below the ears, so that the flat side … Read more

Make Some Thanksgiving Name Tags!

ThanksgivingNametag

By Cowabelle Cowoline Thanksgiving is almost here! It’s my second-favorite holiday (Christmas is my VERY favorite holiday). I love making little crafts to help make the day special. This year, I made name tags! You can make some too. Here’s how: What you need: Scrapbooking paper scraps, brown construction paper, orange construction paper, craft glue, scissors, pen, springy clothespins   What you do: 1. Cut out a brown construction paper circle. It should be about 3 or 4 inches across. 2. Cut out head and neck for your turkey. Use some pretty scrapbooking paper. 3. On your turkey’s face, glue on an orange triangle beak. Cut out two orange legs and glue them to the bottom of the brown circle. 4. Cut out a whole bunch of feathers and glue them onto the back of your turkey. Make sure you can see them peeking out from behind the turkey! Glue a wing on either side of your turkey. 5. Draw on eyes (and eyebrows, if you like). 6. Glue the springy clothespin to the back of your turkey. 7. Cut out a banner that will run from one wing to the other … Read more

Roberta’s Craft

Roberta'sCraft

Know what I love? Big earrings! Probably because my ears are…somewhat…prominent. So. Big earrings! I LOVE making jewelry, so here’s how to make some pretty dangly earrings for yourself (or a friend). What you need:Beads, thread, needle, earring backing (either pierced or clip on), square of cardstock   What you do: Put the thread through the needle. Choose which beads you’d like to use. I had this whole container of multi-colored beads. I did one rainbow pair and one blue-ish pair. Make a small knot at the end of the thread and string the beads onto the thread. You can make your earrings as dangly as you like! Tie the thread to your earring backing. Snip off any extra thread. Display your earrings on a piece of cardstock with your company’s name on it!

Acorn Creatures

by Cowabelle When I was cleaning up the school yard today I was inspired to make these adorable little worms to sell at the fair with acorns I picked up off the ground!   What you need: -          10 – 12 Acorns -          Leaves -          Peppercorns -          Glue gun -          An adult assistant to help with this craft   What you do: Pop the caps off of the acorns, and reserve one or two to use as ‘caps’ for your creatures. With the help of your assistant, glue together a line of five or six acorns. Make the line slope up  at one end to form the head and add peppercorn eyes to your creatures’ faces. Use an acorn cap or a leave to adorn your little creatures with head gear.   These cute little creatures will make perfect reminders of our fabulous Fall Fair!
