Statement on Recent Cheating Account Bans

This is a follow up to the following notices, among many others over the years:

Reminder: Cheating can lead to losing your account

Reminder: Cheating will not be tolerated

Despite these repeated warnings, we unfortunately continue to have accounts that attempt to exploit issues in the game. Let us be clear once again: when we find evidence of exploits being used to gain KinzCash or items, duplicate items, or gain Diamonds in Webkinz Next, we may, at our sole discretion, ban those accounts or apply other account restrictions as we see fit.

It will not matter if you have been a member for a day or ten years, have two pets or fifty, are Deluxe or not Deluxe. It will not matter how much was gained, or which item was attempted to be duplicated. It will not matter if you are actively using the cheat, or were simply testing it.

For the vast majority of you who play as the game was intended, we thank you, and give you the following advice:

If you see or read about an exploit, hack, or duplication bug, don’t use it. Don’t even test it. It’s not worth losing your account over.

If you are asked for your user name and/or password to give you prizes, trades, or to “look after” your account from anyone who is not a known employee of Ganz, do not give it. You will have no control over what is done on your account, and may lose your account over those actions.

Thank you for reading, and have fun in Webkinz World.

Sally Webkinz, when an account is permanently banned are they removed from our friends list?

People are scared of stumbling into a glitch and getting banned. Webkinz is old enough to have a TON of glitches, making this a realistic concern. Such a strict policy feels wrong.

Wow, this is a mess. I’ve done some research online and am sorry to say that I’m done spending on this game if long time players who have invested thousands in their accounts are getting banned over a glitch they may have had nothing to do with. Sorry, too risky.

I know, right? If anything, I’m buying plushes online as I used to so I can have the PHYSICAL thing.

_xPho3nyblade318x_, that’s a great idea. I’m going back to finding Signature plush online. I used to collect them & was so bummed when they were cancelled. Some of them are way out of my range now but not all of them. Going shopping!

I agree with those that think a warning system might be a better approach than a sudden ban, esp. in cases where the item was innocently obtained via a game glitch. If a vending machine gave someone two chocolate bars instead of the one they paid for, should they be charged with theft?

Without knowing exactly what these cheating scenarios are (I do not have a NEXT account); Has anyone thought of fixing these mistakes/glitches mentioned? I’m usually in the dark about most gaming circumstances, and find out after the fact when I later read here on Newz. The first time I won the Wishing Wells Game 3 wells in a row, the doors opened and what a shock surprise when I got to choose a pet’s PSI!!! Was that a glitch or a mistake made by the programmer? This ‘situation’ was fixed by day’s end. Should my account have been banned for this? If something is (consistently) wrong in the programming to cause glitches; why not fix/re-program it? If folks/accounts have received repeated warnings, then respectfully, why is there a wait to ban them? YET, on the flip side ~ I personally know a ton of peeps who play this game, and without reservation, are honest and trusting. I would be quite sad if myself and/or my friends were banned over a programming mistake like the Wishing Wells I mentioned above :(

For any cheaters out there, remember two things. First, is it worth losing your account over, and second, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Terrified of accidentally glitching something now and losing YEARS of money and time spent. I definitely think some discretion needs to be used when banning accounts on a case to case basis. or simple remove the duplicated items from the account and leave them with a warning. then repeat offenders can be banned. If your game doesn’t work the way it should and I accidentally stumble upon an issue, I should not be banned.

I am confused as to what is a “cheat”.. I wish they gave an example or something. From other comments I am seeing “duplicating apples”.. if anything I’d be questioning how people have like 99,999 points on the game of the day sometimes LOL. Seems scary what is going on!! I do feel if there is a glitch though – that’s on Ganz side (and should be fixed ASAP). If someone is trying to change the code or do something behind the scenes & is actually sketchy, that is much different and should never be tolerated (on any site).

Cheating is cheating! Do you really want to give them another chance to cheat someone else? If someone robs you but didn’t take all the good stuff do you really want to give them another chance and maybe do more harm?

Of course I support banning people who hack others or cheat maliciously, but I’m so scared of my main account getting banned. I’ve had it for over a decade and have put an embarrassing amount of money into it. I’m disappointed that I can no longer go to the trading room out of fear of a glitch or unknowingly trading for a duplicated item. Or what if I accidentally open a box twice because I think I forgot to open it or something? I saw someone mention people getting banned for opening the same medallion box multiple times. I don’t want to be worrying when I’m trying to relax.
