Webkinz Desktop App is Available Now!

Back in March we announced the development of our browser-free, full-screen Desktop App for Windows. Well, the wait is over and the application is ready to download today!

Click here to get Webkinz Desktop App for Windows.

Once the download completes, run the installer and you’ll get the new app with an icon on your desktop. Our app automatically updates itself, so you’ll always have the latest and greatest version – no more downloads needed!

Again, this version is for Windows computers only, but we’re happy to announce that the Mac version is going very well and we expect it to be in release state much sooner than first planned! Stay tuned. Also, as a reminder, this application does require the Flash player to remain on your computer, but if you’re playing Webkinz on your PC now, you already have Flash and nothing needs to change.

Finally we’d like to put out a special thanks to all of the Webkinz players who helped us beta test our Desktop App. With your input we’ve created the best, most secure way to play Webkinz ever!

Have fun and let us know below what you think of the new app! We love reading your feedback.

So, I downloaded it and everything appears to work just great. But, I can only play it in full screen mode. Is there any possible way to change this so we can make the playing screen smaller and still see other items on the computer at the same time?

I’m excited to try it out, but am also still nervous that Webkinz is staying in FLASH after it’s no longer supported. I really hope behind the scenes it’s being re-written in another platform such as HTML5 or native. There are so many loyal fans who have been with Webkinz throughout it’s evolution (so it sounds from notes I read here), I just hope everyone will still be able to play, whether’s it’s on windows, mac, chromebook, public computers, android or iphones. Well, it’s a player’s dream (-:

I just set up the desk top version of Webkinz today… A couple glitches but none to big.. Can you please tell me if the security will be the same??? I have been playing since 2009 and have items from back then I am sure.. It appears that the security would be even better but would like to know… Thank you so much for the teams hard work, doing this is no picnic I am sure

I’m loving the new desktop version without the ads. Thanks so much, Ganz! However, when I log into the desktop version, there is no pop up for the daily log in gifts or pop up announcements for events happening that day. Also, the Days of Play aren’t showing up on the desktop version when I go into the forest. All of the above are happening when I go into Webkinz through Chrome. Is this a glitch, or will these things not be available on desktop?

Can we still play by going through Google Chrome like now if we want to after we download the desktop app? Does the desktop app replace our reg way to access everything on our account or just the arcade?

Sweet! I can’t wait to do this! It’s just like when Amazing World was available for Windows. =)

Thank you so much Ganz team for creating this desktop app! I can’t tell you how much I love it!! It’s so much easier for me to play on webkinz due to it. Everything looks bigger and runs quicker! Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to develop this for us :) ~PJ5

I don’t have a computer, I use the one at our public library. I tried running the desktop version on the library computer, but it says I have to install adobe flash player and the public computer won’t let me do that. I’m hoping that I’ll still be able to play. Flash player must be installed already since I can still access the regular version.

i think because it has to be downloaded to the system, unless enough people use WW your library may not do it, they have to do all the computers. It would be worth asking them if it is possible and since you must log in each time it is still secure for each player to use. I would ask friends who plays it at the library and maybe the majority will get the library to do it. good luck

Just curious. Will you guys be creating a version that works with the Chrome OS? I play Webkinz using an Acer Chromebook (a.k.a. neither Mac, nor Windows?) I’ve played this game since I was four, and I’d be really disappointed if I no longer had a way to access my account.
