Back in March we announced the development of our browser-free, full-screen Desktop App for Windows. Well, the wait is over and the application is ready to download today!
Click here to get Webkinz Desktop App for Windows.
Once the download completes, run the installer and you’ll get the new app with an icon on your desktop. Our app automatically updates itself, so you’ll always have the latest and greatest version – no more downloads needed!
Again, this version is for Windows computers only, but we’re happy to announce that the Mac version is going very well and we expect it to be in release state much sooner than first planned! Stay tuned. Also, as a reminder, this application does require the Flash player to remain on your computer, but if you’re playing Webkinz on your PC now, you already have Flash and nothing needs to change.
Finally we’d like to put out a special thanks to all of the Webkinz players who helped us beta test our Desktop App. With your input we’ve created the best, most secure way to play Webkinz ever!
Have fun and let us know below what you think of the new app! We love reading your feedback.

what if i use a mac :(
You can use the Mac version when it’s ready :)
Why Webkinz does it tell me I need adobe flashplayer???? I thought we didnt need it with the app????
You’ve misunderstood. The only thing that is no longer required is the browser. Webkinz World is Flash-based. You will need to install the system-based (not browser-based) Adobe Flash for the app to work.
Hi Ganz – I downloaded the desktop app a couple days ago – love the larger screen and the longer dock. However, I am encountering a potentially serious privacy issue. When I log out, the next screen gives me an option to “Play” or “Quit”. I hit “Play” because I want to get on another account. The login screen still displays my username and Password (in asterisks) and all I have to do it click and I’m in again. This could be a real problem with those who play on a shared computer or children who may not take the time to back completely out. Can you please look in to this issue? Thanks!
We recommend that you quit the application after playing to ensure that those fields are cleared. Ironically, most of our complaints are that more passwords are not being saved, so we’re looking into a more comprehensive password management system.
Thanks for answering Sally. For me, personally, it’s not a problem, but I am aware that many players use a public computer in a school or library and some may not take the time to take that extra step. Otherwise, my experience with the new app is going great.
I love the Webkinz app, but can you tell me what to do when it freezes up and I can’t get anything to work, and I can’t shut it down? Thank you!
You can try hitting ESC. Or pressing the Windows key will reveal your taskbar, which you can then use to right-click and close the application. Otherwise, you can also hold down CTRL-ALT-DEL at the same time to bring up your task manager and force it to quit.
Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!
My sister downloaded the app how will she be able to get into Webkinz Newz and the estore?
You would still use a browser for Webkinz Newz and eStore. There’s nothing critical that’s Flash-based on those websites.
Isn’t flash used for viewing some items?
Sure, some previews are using Flash, but they’re being converted to .png and .gif
I recently downloaded the new app, but I noticed that it keeps freezing. Is the internet version better than this app?
When I click on the “Click here to get Webkinz Desktop App for Windows.” I get: You can’t open the application “wxsetup (4).exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on OS X.
I’m afraid you’re going to have to wait until we release a Mac version.
Does that mean I cannot finish the Deluxe Challenge this month? So I will not get KinzCash credits for playing the Zingos Pop game?
You’ll have to contact webkinzsupport@ganz.com for assistance with that issue. Some things you could try while you wait include switching browsers, or making sure you click on the challenge icon before starting.
I downloaded the app but it wont let me play. Only the Quit button works. The Play button is transparent and does nothing.
Hi golightly – mine is doing the same thing, it told me I had to download Adobe Flashplayer, which I did, but then when I try to go into it again it tells me I need to download Flashplayer. Then the play button does not work just the quit button. Any suggestions Webkinz?
I had to download the flash player again. Even though I had flash while using the browser, I had to download it again for the app. I don’t understand why….
nevermind….I figured it out
Hi golightly; can I ask how you fixed this problem and got it to work? Thank you.
amh1018013, please see above for reply :D
Ever since yesterday mine has been stuck on “maintenance.” Do I need to delete it and redownload? I agree with the other player that I’d like to have an option for it to not be full screen.
Yes, if you’re still having issues, give that a try.
I prefer internet explorer. Will I still be able to play the way I play now on IE without having to download this app?
As long as Internet Explorer supports Flash, yes.
