Roberta’s Party

Stoogles here with some exciting news –we’re planning a ‘welcome to your new house’ party for Roberta! It was Nibbles’ idea, and we all thought it was a pretty good one. The plan is that we’ll all help her move (on May 6). When the moving part is done, Salley, Alex and Molly will make an excuse to leave. They’ll go to Salley’s house and pick up a bunch of balloons, some food and drinks. They’ll bring everything back and surprise Roberta and her parents. I’m just glad Roberta isn’t moving very far away – in fact, she’s closer to Cowabelle than before!

Salley’s Great Plan

Salley here with a bit of a conundrum. What do to about an end-of-the-year field trip? Each year, the school president is supposed to plan something really special for the school to do at the end of their term. But this year? I don’t really know. We’ve done so many special things already! I thought perhaps we could do a fun fair, but Stoogles said that would be too similar to the fall fair. I mentioned climbing Mount ‘Kinz, but Purr-Cilla said that most kids didn’t find trekking up a mountain fun. Then I thought ‘what about a trip to the Big City? We could see a play, visit a museum, and eat somewhere fabulous…’ But then I realized: the Big City costs big KinzCash. I don’t know how we’d raise the money. So now I’m back to the ol’ drawing board. If you could go anywhere for an end-of-the-year trip, where would you go, friends?

Roberta’s baby names

So my mom and dad are really excited about the new baby I heard them talking about what they would name a baby girl. So I thought I’d help them out by suggesting some names. I mean, they have enough to worry about, right? I thought this could be my thing. I decided to start with girl names and I came up with some awesome ones! I found this book at the library with a huge list of names and their meanings. Here is what I narrowed it down to: Ranulfa apparently means wolf. I know it may not be your typical rabbit name, but hey – I bet my baby sister is going to be powerful and brave. Rashida means righteous. How perfect is that for my little sis? Rubella. Okay, this wasn’t actually in the book. I just like it. My mom says that’s a word for measles, not a name, but I think it’s got something, don’t you? Raghnild means one who is fierce in battle. (Okay, I might have a new fav here). Rathnait means wealthy or charming and who wouldn’t want that? Rhodanthe means Rose. How pretty is that? Rochette means ‘from the little rock.’ … Read more

Purr-Cilla’s Big Day

Dear Diary, I can’t believe how fast my birthday is coming up! May 12, be there! The only thing is, I haven’t started planning my party yet. That’s what happens when you’re super-busy and super-popular like me! I just haven’t had time, between my tennis classes, violin recitals, gymnastics competitions and homework. Don’t even get me started on student council – I practically run that! But fortunately, Mom got the invitations back from the printer today, so I can pass them out at school tomorrow. I decided to invite most of the school – and even some of the ‘Kinz – partially because I really like a certain Sparky Fact (and if I just invited him, that would be too obvious), and partially because it’ll drive the ones I DON’T invite nuts! Anyway, this is going to be the party of the century! Nothing like Stoogles’ little Googles party. Do you know how much KinzCash my dad is spending on this shindig? Like, about two thousand! Top that! Love, Purr-Cilla

Roberta’s Diary: Time to Move

Dear Diary,   Guess what? We’re moving REALLY soon! My parents bought another house and put ours for sale this afternoon! Turns out they’ve been looking for awhile (without my knowledge of course), but they hadn’t found anything they LOVED until a few days ago. They put an offer in on the house, and this afternoon it was final – it’s ours! I haven’t seen it in person, of course, but I did see pictures…and wow! It’s a lot bigger than the house we have now. For starters, I’ll have my own (very large) room, and so will my sibling (although my brother or sister’s room is smaller than mine…which is only fair). The kitchen is bigger and so is the family room. The backyard has a swing set, slide and tree house in it, so my little brother or sister will love that as they get older. My parents said that the basement is mostly finished, and there’s an extra room down there that they’d like me to have as my own craft studio. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! I can’t! And – get this – they even said that Hailey and Elwin could design my craft room AND … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventures Part 4

Hey, it’s Roberta and guess what? Babies aren’t actually as bad as I thought! I know things didn’t exactly go well with Molly’s cousin, but I was telling PJ Collie about how awful it was and she said that all babies are different and I shouldn’t judge them all by one bad experience. She said some babies are shy and don’t like being away from their mothers but that doesn’t mean they’re not perfectly nice kids. I don’t know – I will reserve judgment on that one. Anyway, PJ said that she often babysits for her neighbor and that they have the cutest little baby boy who is not too shy with new people. I thought she was going to ask me to go along with her but she actually asked if I wanted to take over and babysit one night. She said she would give me a good reference and that she would be right down the road if I needed her help. So I did it and guess what? He really was the cutest thing – like EVER. He giggled at pretty much everything I did. Feeding him was kind of gross but also hilarious. He loved to … Read more

Hailey & Elwin’s Studio: The Trophy Room

Elwin and I had a small room in our studio, and we were trying to figure out what we should do with it. It was too little to use for anything major, so we decided: it’s our trophy room.                         OK, so we don’t have a TON of trophies yet (definitely not a roomful), but we’re getting there! And with each design contest we enter, we manage to win at least one or two. So we WILL need a whole room to house or awards sooner or later! That’s why we put the bamboo plants in there, by the way – for good luck. Plumpy happened to drop by along with our friend Pearl. Here they are checking out our brand new trophy room (they were suitably impressed).   I hope we need to add a LOT more tables – and maybe even a shelf or two!

A Letter from Laurabeard – FINALLY!!!

Dear Nibbles, I’m sorry I haven’t written to you. It’s just been so crazy around here. There’s been a stowaway on board and we have been searching high and low trying to find them. I’ve actually been kind of scared, knowing there was someone out there but not knowing who it was. Then, the other day I was heading back to my cabin after dinner and I heard this strange sound. It was like a whining noise. I didn’t know what was making the sound but it seemed to be coming from a lifeboat that was hanging on the side of the ship. I thought it might be the stowaway and I wanted to go and get Dogbeard, but we had searched so long and hard, I was afraid that they would just get away again if I left. So I walked quietly over to the lifeboat and, being careful not to make a sound, I lifted the cover. And do you know what I saw? Crouched down in the lifeboat was a little boy crying. As soon as he saw me he started crying even harder. He told me that he had wanted to see the world so he … Read more

Hailey and Elwin’s Studio: the Bathroom

Hi readers! It’s Elwin. When Hailey and I set out to design the bathroom for our new studio we wanted something that would really wow prospective clients. Chances are we won’t be taking a lot of baths while we’re working, but we wanted clients to see how impactful a well-designed bathroom could be. We decided to go with an elegant yet modern theme in shades of pink. We started with the Trading Card Condo Wallpaper. It really stands out against the icy white First Snow Flooring. The Stress Soaker Hot Tub makes a stunning focal point in the room while the Whimsical Water Fountain is our creative alternative to a regular sink. Along with the marble columns it adds a very regal feel to the room. We added a feature wall with a pair of crystal chandeliers flanking a Pretty in the City Painting, set over top of a Frosted-Top Dining Table. I think anyone would feel pretty special to have a bathroom like this. I know we sure do. And I hope our clients feel the same.

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 3

Holly started to cry as soon as the door closed. I guess she realized that Molly and Millie had officially left her with this strange Rabbit. I tried humming and walking again, but it didn’t work. I decided to see if maybe Holly was hungry. In the fridge, I found a bottle labeled “2:30 – heat for 30 seconds in the microwave.” Even though it wasn’t quite 2:30 (nowhere near, actually), I decided that maybe we should give it a try. I heated the bottle, made sure it wasn’t too warm, and then sat down with Holly on my lap. And she drank the whole thing! After that, she seemed kind of sleepy again. Since she wasn’t crying, I figured it would be smart NOT to move her. So I sat on the couch and lo and behold – she fell sound asleep! After about 20 minutes, she got SUPER heavy, but I still didn’t move. And after about 10 minutes more, I heard the sound I had been waiting for – the turning of a doorknob. “We’re home!” came Molly’s mom’s voice. You can only imagine how surprised she was  when she saw Holly and I alone in the … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 2

Millie burst into tears. Her nose was bleeding and I don’t do so well with blood, so Molly said “Roberta, you take care of Holly – I’ll help Millie.” I ran into the spare room and saw Holly standing up in her crib. She was so cute! But so freaked out to see me. I guess she was expecting to see her mom or her aunt, because as soon as she laid eyes on me, she began to wail much louder. I decided I should try to pick her up. I didn’t realize how heavy she’d be! I managed to scoop her out of her crib (somewhat awkwardly) and hold her against my shoulder. She was REALLY upset at that point (can you say hysterical?), but I started walking around the room, humming a little tune. After a few minutes, she started to calm down. After about ten minutes of walking, she was just whimpering. I walked into the living room with her and found Molly sitting with Millie, who was holding an ice pack on her nose. “I think her snout might be really hurt,” Molly said nervously. “I’m going to see if Debbie Dragon can drive us to … Read more

Roberta’s Babysitting Adventure: Part 1

Guess what I did today? I babysat!  And it went…well, let me tell you the story. Molly called me first thing this morning and said “guess who’s in town?” I guessed Dacey Bryn and SantaKinz, and then she stopped me and said, “No! My Aunt Maria and my cousin Holly!” And I said, “Great!” And she said, “Want to help me babysit Millie and Holly this afternoon?” And I said, “Sure!” I figured it would give me some practice with babies. You know, for when my sibling is born. I arrived at Molly’s house at around 1:30. Holly had just gone down for a nap, so I thought we were in for a pretty easy afternoon. Molly’s mom and aunt were going to go out shopping for two hours, so it wasn’t as if we were going to be babysitting for a long time. Molly’s mom said that they’d probably be back before we heard a peep from Holly. And that might’ve been the case. If it hadn’t been for…Millie. Molly and I had just locked the door behind her mom and aunt, when Millie came running down the hall yelling “LET’S GET READY … Read more
